Pc boots from clone, did not ask for that, want it to boot from original disk

Thread needs solution

Cloned my disk to another disk, all went well but after a reboot it starts from the clone. I just want to make a bootable clone, I do not want to boot from it if thats not needed. How do I get my pc to boot from the original disk?

Go into the BIOS and select the correct boot disk. You may have to disconnect the cable to the new clone on the first boot so the computer will find only the old source. After it boots correctly from the old source, then you can reconnect the cable to the new clone.

That is only one of the reasons why Clone is trickier and riskier than Backup. But, you caused a problem when you booted the PC with both drives attached. Windows does not react well to booting with two OS drives attached. You can't know which one will boot, and some system files may be written to one or the other. That is a Windows issue, not an Acroni issue.

My advice: don't use Clone. Do a full disk Backup, selecting the entire disk, and a Restore. The end result will be the same as Clone, but with many advantages.

Backups won't start: 0xAA145495CA4E42B3 Error while opening configuration file

When I enter my login info it starts to sync to cloud. All by itself. Do I not have a choice? Can't turn it off, only pause it. I have to go to services to disable a service?

Wth?

I bought it yesterday, I like the idea of having a good backup but the overall user experience on my side, well, to put it nicely, not so good.

Rob,

If you could keep to one thread it would be helpful.

The backups that won't start, are these normal images, NSB or to Online Backup?

Have you had either the beta version or 2011 installed previously? I'm not sure how it can auto sync to the cloud until it is set up. You don't have to stop the service you can just log out.

Normal images, never had a beta installed. It asked me for my email/pass at startup. Then it decides by itself what to backup and starts backing up.

If you have an Acronis account and you log in to it when starting 2013, a default sync between your computer and the Acronis Cloud is created. It can not be deleted. If you are not using the on-line backup services or the sync services in 2013, you can log out of your account from within 2013 and the default sync will not be listed.

What kind of backup is this? Non-Stop, On-line , Local, Files/Folders, Disk/Partitions?
How are you trying to start it? Manually, Scheduled?

Another thing, f11 = startup disk selection @ bios @ Asrock. I found I can change that, question is why do I need to change that manually? Why didn't the installer ask me what key to assign?

Not being a nitpicker, I'm really amazed.

Nowhere was there a warning that the pc could boot of the clone after a restart. Acronis must have done some magic there, my original disk was no longer in the list, neither was the clone. All I could select was "windows boot manager" and my usb stick or the AHCI version of my clone. Must me a UEFI thing.

All I wanted was a bootable clone so that I could use NeoSmart Technologies iReBoot if needed. Too bad Future Systems Casper does not support UEFI. Casper clones once and then just updates the clone.
