Naming Files
Hello,
In older versions of ABR I was able to name backups using the archive name instead of auto-generated names as in this article: http://kb.acronis.com/content/14850
Is this still possible with ABR 11.5? I am creating Centralized bakups in ABR 11.5 advanced workstation.
Thanks,

This option is avaiable in personal vaults or unmanaged centralized vaults as per http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11/#10483.html

Thank you for clarifying this. The v11.5 in-program documentation matches the v11 documentation link you posted.

Hi all, thanks for your replies.
I can't seem to get this option. Can someone please confirm that they can do this:
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 > Connect to a management server > Machine > Backup plans and tasks > New > Backup Plan
The first attachment shows that there is no option to select an OnSchedule backup scheme which is what I needed to select the fixed archive name. The second attachment shows the previous backup scheme with OnSchedule backup scheme. I can't seem to be able to select this type of backup scheme in 11.5.

OnSchedule for the second case is the same a Simple for the first. However in order to be able to select simplified naming, you don't need to select scheme first - just expand 'show backup file naming...' section and set the check. If you are editing existing backup plan, you can't switch between simplified naming and regular one.

Hello,
rakewell, the problem is that the management server assumes you will back up multiple machines, so it forces you to use the [Machine_name] variable. If you connect directly to the machine and choose the same centralized vault, simplified file naming will be available.

thanks elenal, i see that now. I was hoping that I would be able to create it with the management server so that i can view all the backup plans without having to connect locally. Is there a way for the management server to view local backup files for a computer?

rakewell, you can view and even edit a local backup plan on the management server, see the screenshot. Backup files created by your plan will also be seen because you are backing to a centralized vault. Just expand the centralized vault in the Navigation tree.
