Validation fails because tape is ejected

Thread needs solution

Hi!

Since i installed ABR11.5 i get always the following error codes:

0x0040005B+0x00000008

This means, that the tape cannot be validated because it is unmounted (ejected). The unmount option is disabled and the target drive is a local one so it must be a program error.

We had this before in V10 a year ago...

Is there any solution for that?

In thread 7270 the acronis technician Anton Deev promised: "...we are working on it and if we do not include it in ABR10, we will definitely do it in the next version of our software". Meanwhile - ABR11.5 is out and still no or no obvious way to eject after validation and not after writing a tape.

Hello Forellenblau and Wohnwagen Wagner,

Thank you for using Acronis software.

I am sorry to hear about your problems using tapes in Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5. Troubleshooting in this part of your environment is individual. Have you used the online help (de) for configuring your tape backups correct? As any solution in this case does only match your individual environment, I recommend contacting support as next step. You will find more information about this step and your support options in our Customer Handbook.

Additionally I want to inform you, that we have created a forum section for our German Customers.

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello Peter, yes i saw the german section in the forum - very good.

I had a support contact these days about this problem and it seems that it is really a program error, I tested yesterday a little bit and found out the following:

If you tick on "Move a tape back to the slot after using", the tape is ejected after backup (not after validation) even if the option "Eject tapes after successful backups" is ticked off.

If you tick off "Move a tape back to the slot after using", the tape is ejected after validation even if the option "Eject tapes after successful backups" is ticked off.

So it seems that "Eject tapes after successful backups" can be ticked on or off results in the same behaviour: The tape is ejected after validation.

If you tick on "Move a tape back to the slot after using" the tape is always ejected after backup no matter if "Eject tapes after successful backups" is ticked on or off.

Really weiring...

OK: What i wanted is that the tape is ejected after a backup and immediate validation. To reach that, i ticked off "Move a tape back to the slot after using" and ticked on "Eject tapes after successful backups"
