ATI 2013 Trial All Tabs Disabled (Grayed out)

Thread needs solution

I just installed ATI 2013 trial edition on a Windows 7 32-bit VM (VMWare Workstation 9.0). No errors during installation.

After startup only the home tab is active.

All others tabs are grayed out.

Mahesh,

Did you install ATI with administrator privileges? If yes, did you disable any Microsoft service?

If you have installed with admin and didn't tweak your system, uninstall, create a clean boot environment with msconfig (disable all non-Microsoft services and all start up items), reboot. Install 2013. Verify it is working. If yes, use msconfig's first tab to return to normal startup.

Pat,

Thanks. I had performed the installation with Admin privileges without any changes. I had performed the installation as a domain user and the user has admin rights on the local machine.

I did as per instructions and still no luck. By the way I have Norton 360 installed on the VM.

Did you enter the serial number in the trial? Is it activated?

Thanks. Yes I did enter the serial number and I now noticed that I'm getting an error while activating. I tried to get the activation code using the website & even that is failing. I'm trying to contact support (chat) to see if I can get it activated.

Could it be possible that your firewall is preventing Acronis from accessing the internet and prevent the activation?

Thanks Pat. The support team said that trial version doesnt require activation and they couldnt identify why the tabs are disabled. They recommended running the cleanup utility and even that didnt resolve the issue.

I just uninstalled it and probably retry the process with a new VM.

I have 2013 installed and activated on Windows 8, but now all the tabs across the top of the gui are grayed out with the exception of the "get started" tab.

I used it to make one backup when I first installed W8, and this is the first time since then that I wanted to launch it to make a fresh backup, and now I can't.

Was there ever a solution to this problem? Acronis 2013 is useless to me like this.... :-(

Figured it out...

I was going to remove / reinstall the program so I went back to make sure I still kept the serial number in my emails.. couldn't find it. So I decided to see if I could update the product and remedy the problem, and when I clicked to update, it said my trial had expired. Guess maybe I hadn't bought it yet afterall.

With that said, it's a little confusing to see the "product is activated" and a green bar across the bottom of the screen and no mention of trial having expired until you try and update the product.

Oh well... newegg has it on special for $19.00 with a promo... just have to wait for the hard copy dvd to get here.

Cheers...

danx.
NewEgg should have provided a serial number and once you have that, you can register the serial and the latest download becomes immediately available from your own personal account on the Acronis website.

If the trial is the most current, you can input the new serial into the trial without any further installation. Be sure and register your serials. Acronis does not do this. It is up to the user to register their serials.

Unfortunately it was a boxed version, and not a downloadable one. Gotta wait for it to arrive the old fashioned way. ;-)

I will register the s/n online once I get it.

Still a little misleading on the gui saying my product was activated and no mention of it still being in trial mode when it's first launched. Granted it's up to be to actually buy it! LOL But a friendly little pop up on the initial launch of the software would've been nice.

danx,
Thanks for the update. When you get the actual product, would you post back as to where you found the serial number to be located. There have been posts that the serial number was not provided or may simply have been overlooked by the purchaser. I don't know for sure, but I understand the serial number to be located as part of the user manual--maybe on the back. Would much appreciate if you would confirm its actual location. This is an example of the serial number.
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXY-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX

You may find it helpful to use a magnifier on the number as the numbers can be so easily misread. I record/save the number into Notepad so I can copy and paste directly into the installation and likewise copy/paste into the Acronis website as part of the registration.

Once you have registered the serial, you have access to the latest updates so the retail DVD may not be needed and may not even be the most up to date so a new download may still be necessary.

The version identification inside the DVD help file should help to identify the version and the build number supplied on DVD.
