True Image Home 2010 Won't Install, True Image Home 2009 Won't Run Or Uninstall

Thread needs solution

I am running Windows Vista SP2 and have been happily running TIH 2009 for over a year. It made a backup on 3/1 and now won't make backups or even start! I try to bring it up and all I get is the "Initialize..." splash ad infinitum until I manually kill the process. I have deleted all my old logs and have trimmed down my restore points (I looked up those fixes right away), but it still will not work, so I decided to upgrade. I bought TIH 2010 yesterday and tried to install, it asked for my key number, then went into its own "Initialize..." daze (overnight, until I killed it this morning). So I decided to try uninstalling 2009 first, thinking that was the problem. The uninstaller hangs on "Please wait while Windows configures Acronis True Image Home 2009..." until I kill THAT and then reboot.

Oh, BTW, in searching for solutions, I also installed the latest version of SnapAPI (SnapAPI.503_s_e_.zip).

So WTF guys?

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

1)  Please uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2009 using Acronis Cleanup utility

2) Reboot the computer.

3) Install Acronis True Image Home 2010 from the scratch and see if the issue remains. If the issue persists, please obtain the below files and attach to your next post:

- Please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach the file to your next post. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip) and attach to your message by browsing for the archive.
This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Thank you.

OK, I am going to be as detailed as possible because this is gonna hurt.

1) I downloaded the Acronis Cleanup Utility

2) I turned off UAC

3) I ran the utility. It said I didn't have MSIZAP.EXE, so I followed instructions, downloaded it, and it installed fine.

4) I then uninstalled Acronis True Image Home 2009

5) I rebooted

6) I THEN HAD TO SPEND 2 HOURS USING SYSTEM RESTORE TO GET MY COMPUTER BACK UP AND RUNNING! Luckily I had a good restore point from March 1st, and I think I can get the newer stuff off my thumb drives. The worst part about it is that ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE HOME 2009 IS STILL ON MY COMPUTER! YOUR "CLEANUP UTILITY" DIDN'T DO SQUAT AS FAR AS I CAN TELL. I STILL can't uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2009, I tried running your Report Utility and just got the message "You don't have enough privileges", despite the fact that I am admin on this machine and can install and uninstall other apps just fine! I am going to try to get my computer usable again, and after that, if I don't get an answer from you that satisfies me, I plan on calling my credit card company and putting a stop payment on the True Image 2010 I bought.

I have the same problem, I used the TI maybe once before the notebook was abroad with my children. Now, I found the TI not running anymore, neither chance to uninstall nor update. So, I made a dd backup and tried to remove TI with other software - failure. At least, I tried the brute method, removed the program files and cleaned the registry, included the removal guide of Acronis for NT, XP. No one of the services for tib and tis are obviously running, but the keys HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\ACRONISDEVICES referring to timounter, ...LEGACY_TIFSFILTER and so on can not be deleted. When I delete the .dll's, the computer will not restart until the two drivers are back.
Disabling the enumerator-service and reboot did not help either to get the keys free to deletion.

I can not get access to the AcronicCleanUpUtiliy.

I already invested too many hours to get rid of that software - I hope for good hints, otherwise I will never consider to buy updates or more licenses.

Consider restoring your Acronis backup so the computer would become same condition and data as when the backup was created.
