Uninstall Help

Thread needs solution

Acronis 2013 gummed-up my XP workstation and killed drives.
Uninstall returned XP workstation to normal.
Reinstall of True Image Home 2009 is not working.

Cannot uninstall True Image Home 2009 and cannot run 2013 cleanup tool - need help ASAP.

Try running the True Image Home Cleanup Utility http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876 again. after you delete any files in your user profile temp folder. In XP, click start, then run, then type in %temp% and hit enter to display these files/folders. Delete everything in the temp folder you can, ignoring the in-use files.

Open a Windows command prompt and run the following command to check for corrupted system files:
sfc /scannow

Did the SFC find and correct any problems? You system reported the the framedyn.dll was corrupt or missing in your screen capture.
Have you tried the 2009 installation again?

No problems with the SFC.
2009 is installed but will not uninstall and fails when trying to run a backup.

Running the 2009 installer again fails with runtime error: C:\Program\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageMonitor.exe
application has requested Runtime to terminate in an unusual way - please contact application's support team

Can you open the Windows task manager and kill the True image processes that are running and try the uninstall or install again?

Chips,

Why not use your user created bootable media recovery CD and use one of your recent backups and restore the system back to when the system was normal.

Try removing the disk containing the backups and attach to a different machine.
What type errors are you getting regarding the backup disk?
Don't write anything to the disk until you do further checking.

Reformatted the backup disk and online again but can't run 2009 and can't run 2013 cleanup. A very frustrating experience and no direct support for resolving this. Never encountered such a mess with uninstalling and reinstalling an application. Appreciate your help.

I ran the cleanup utility to make sure True Image was off of my box and it apparently hosed the registry. Looking at another scratch install, it seems.

Update: Well, after doing System Restore back to a week ago and (drumroll!) restarting the print spooler, everything seems to be working again. No idea why restarting the print spooler was key to getting several functions working again, but it was a suggestion off the MS forums.
