problem when i make recovery for 4 backup files

Thread needs solution

hi

i had a problem with backup files that i can not recovery

1st i was not the one who take the backup files so i don't know which version the one who take the backup use

2nd the back files is separated into 4 .tibs files on 4 DVD 3 of them had the same size 4.3 GB and the last one is 1.5 GB

i copied the DVDs on poratable hard so i can put them into one folder as i read that acronis may had error with dealing with multipe DVD still when i go to the recovery option and click on any file (as i tried to choose every one of the 4 files) an error massage "This is not the last volume of the backup archive"

the other problem is when i try to make refresh recovery so acronis can identify the backup file acronis did not see the 4 backup files instead it saw other recoveries that i made after

i tried to use acronis under windows(from another PC and put my HD salve) and under Dos still same result also i used acronis 2012 but the same error shows again and again

any help plz with this issue

Just curious as to how the files are named.
You are correct in that the files must all be together in one group.
Based on t he total size, it sounds like the backup may be only of one partition. What OS is being restored?

If these are single files on the CD, it sounds like a backup was created onto a hard drive and then copied to DVD. The copy may not have been pure.

the files named as file-1 , file -2 , file-3 , file-4

the os is XP

and yes there is one file on each CD

is there is a way to recover

The names do not sound normal for an Acronis naming situation. Is it possible that the originals was one large file and the user used a file splitting program to split the files into DVD sizes?

Perhaps other may be of some help but I do not know of any method to make these files usable.

is there is away to merg them back into one file i mean is there is a method to compind many back up file to be one file

I'm sorry I cannot be of more help. If the files were actually separated by a file splitter, you would need the original splitter program to put them back together. At time point, we really do not know why the files are not readable nor if they were split from one file.

Have you tried to do the restore when booted from the CD. Try booting from the one with the smallest file and if the backup was actually created direct to DVD, the program will keep asking you to swap the DVD's.

Good luck.
