Acronis USB drivers loading for USB Flash Drive may be keeping GPS from connecting.
I have been trying to connect, and update a Magellan Roadmate Gps. I have tried different Usb ports. Different Usb cables. They work for Other devices, but, NOT for the Roadmate. All I get with the Roadmate is a "Flash ROM USB device" added to my devices, with Zero capacity.
I checked the Properties for the Flash ROM (GPS) and see that, under "Driver File Details", it lists Four files: Disk.sys (microsoft), Fltsrv.sys (Acronis), PartMgr.sys (Microsoft), and Vsflt67.sys (Acronis). I am trying to see if getting rid of the Acronis drivers would solve my problem, but, can't seem to figure how, besides Uninstalling Acronis TrueImage 2012.
When I connect my Roadmate Gps, it finds the device, but, doesn't get to load any of the software that it needs. I connected it to Another pc, and it loaded its drivers, and I was able to do a Full update.
I found a Knowledgebase article that suggest loading Snapapi, but, didn't seem to work. Even had to Re-boot my pc a few times, before successfully got passed Flashing Cursor. [USBd] error came up during this.
*** Acronis TrueImage 2012 is ALREADY being put to the BACK?? 2012 is Over yet!

How can I do this withOUT uninstalling Acronis, or Upgrading?? What do I do, if I upgrade, and it STILL happens?
Is there a Fix??

I am not aware of a fix. I'd try 2013 because it has new drivers.

If I upgrade and the NEW drivers have the SAME problem, What do I do then?

You'd have to uninstall ATI from Windows and do your backups from the recovery CD.

Couldn't there be a FIX from Acronis, that would NOT have Acronis TrueImage making changes to the Standard USB drivers; unless it NEEDED to. In other words... ATI might have some type of TEST available to run, to see if hardware being used will work. If the test FAILS, THEN the changes to the Standard Usb drivers would be made; for Acronis use ONLY. Right now, Acronis has Modified the DEFAULT Usb drivers, so that Not Every Usb device is guaranteed to work.
And I still say that Acronis TrueImage 2012 should STILL be FULLY supported, since it is STILL 2012, and is the version DIRECTLY before the NEW version.
I know that software companies would Love to have everyone Purchase the Newest versions, Each Year, but, if you think about it, that might mean that people would only have each version for about 1/2 a year. How many people actually get the Newest version, as Soon as it comes out So, they might have a NEW version, for a few months, then start getting THE WORD that in about another month the NEXT NEWEST version will be available for purchase.
Either way, if there is a problem with a Current version, there should be FIXES for it; NOT "a fix MAY happen, if you purchase the Upgrade, because there are changes in the New version".

Many such fixes are incorporated into ATI 2013, which is why Pat suggested that you try 2013.

2013 does the same thing.
2011 works just fine. 2012 doesn't see the USB drive that it booted from, 2013 is just as screwed up as 2012. We purchase 300-400 licenses a year and If there isn't a solution fairly soon I don't know how much longer we will be customers.
I reported this error last year and we rolled back our licenses to 2011. Now I am told by our purchasing department that we can no longer obtain 2011 licenses.
Get it together guys.
