Acronis says backup recovery takes 4 days to restore 300GB folder

Thread needs solution

I made a full backup of my system. Then I reinstalled Windows 7 on my PC and finally wanted to recover only my user-folders under \...\users\me\.
First I tried to mount the Acronis backup HDD. I can access every folder except the one with my data. Windows tells me I'm not allowed to access the folder but as I am an admin of my PC I can apply for them. Ongoing it seems to open the folder but nothing happens, not even after three hours. Then I decided to try to recover one folder to test if this works. For a few hours it says the remaining time is more than one day. Then sometime later I need to accept that Acronis tells me this will take about 4 to 5 days.
I think my problem is obvious!

I'm using the 2011 version of Acronis True Image.

Gregor,

Don't trust the time estimates of Acronis, they are notoriously erratic. If mounting the image doesn't give you access to the folder you have several alternatives:
- double click on the TIB file directly, copy/past,
- restore the folder from within ATI in Windows,
- restore the folder from within ATI running from the recovery CD.
