Nonstop Backup stops
I have been running Nonstop Backup for several weeks suddenly I realized that it is stopping a few minutes after I boot up the computer. The sequence is that in the task bar an icon labeled True Image and an icon labeled Nonstop backup appears. after five minutes or so the icon labeled True Image displays a message "True Image: Successfully completed". Immediately afterwards the Nonstop icon displays a message "Nonstop Backup: is stopped". Both icons disappear. How do I keep the Nonstop Backup running?

Can you post a screen shot of the NSB log file, especially any areas that might show that an error has occurred?

Acronis Nonstop Backup services is running. Attached is the log. I don't see an error. It appears to come up, go through a process, and shut down. I am running Win7 64bit.

Michael,
Non-Stop Backup will stop:
a) by design when it cannot consolidate the slices it has produced. Leaving the computer running for a full night without major activity should give it ample time to catch up,
b) by erroring out when the service stops and restarts because of software issues.
Let's verify we are not in case a)
Let's give it a night and let us know what happens.

I left the computer on for over 24 hours, and then rebooted. It preformed as discribed above. What should I do nexted?

I'm assuming there were no errors logged for the NSB. Have a look at the following forum topic:
http://forum.acronis.com/forum/35345
You might try the suggestion in post #8 to see if it helps.

I tried the suggestion in post #8 above. There is no change. Nonstop Backup behaves as I outlined in my original post. I have attached the latest log.

Your NSB log file is a bit different than mine, so I have a few questions:
1.) Where is NSB configured to store its files? Is a local drive, a network drive, or somewhere else?
2.) Is your machine configured to use any power saving modes, such as sleep/hibernate? If so what are its settings?
3.) Can you describe exactly how you have NSB configured?
4.) Have a look at page 49 in the user manual, about how NSB works. Does it seem to match what you are seeing?
5.) I realize the what you are seeing is different that what you had been seeing several weeks earlier. Please take a moment to think about if anything may have changed in relation to the questions above.
6.) Perhaps you can save the log to a file and post it as an attachment. The option to save it is shown on the log file screen.

Michael,
When you launch ATI, do you see the NSB task? Do you see the buttons to pause/run non-stop? Does it look like you have to press the start button?
Your log looks fine.
When you modify a file, can you recover the previous version through NSB?

Sorry, I have been out most of the day. I do not see anything on the ATI screen that I think you described. I attached below a screen print. I also attached a copy of the log. I noticed that the last entry labeled "All Sync" is nothing but error messages.
1. The NSB stores files on an external hard drive that is connected via USB.
2. I do not use sleep or hybernate except when I am on the road. Then NSB does not work because I do not bring along the external drive.
3. I am not sure how to determine how it NSB is configured because I can not access the current configuration other than to say the source is drive C and the destination is drive E.
4. I have not but will review in the owner guide the section on NSB.
5. The only intential thing I have done is to replace C drive using the ATI clone function.

Based upon the content of the NSB log files contained within your ati_log_file.zip, you appear to have the same problem that I have been experiencing for many months. NSB is not working correctly, despite other indications that it might be. Your problem started on 9/18/2012. I have highlighted the error (event 13) in red. Note that the report mistakenly implies that NSB seems to be working correctly (event 14), highlighted in green. Event 15 shows that indeed, the service is stopped.

It looks like I won't be relying on NSB until it is updated.

In the mean time, you can:
1.) Stop the NSB service in services.msc
2.) Rename the NSB directory, adding the extension .old
3.) Restart the service and create a new NSB
I don't know whether previous versions will be recoverable from the previous NSB directory.
From what I recall, my previous company had this same problem a couple of years ago. We were running Windows Small Business Server. After being directed to outsource IT network management, I only had occasional times when I needed to interact with the server. It also was running Acronis with NSB and I noticed the NSB system tray icon was missing. I brought it to the IT company's attention because they were unaware from the log file icon that something wasn't right, until you actually expanded it and saw the errors. Fortunately, we were running daily incremental backups, but that didn't help in the times when we needed to retrieve a file previous version. Luckily, it wasn't me who lost a day's worth of work when that happened.

As it turns out, I recreated my NSB on Monday as outlined in my post # 13 above. I didn't last for two days before erroring out again. Windows event log shows no system errors. A screen shot of the NSB log file is attached.

I don't where to begin but I about to end. I stop the NSB service. Then, I looked for the backup file to rename without success. I looked for it with the name I gave it when I set it up, and I looked for it using the distination name listed the log. Nothing. I made sure to unhide all files in the control pane.

I believe your NSB directory is here:
E:\Time Explorer Storage\F9142680-B772-4946-B05C-851845B84D85\
It's a hidden directory, but you should be able to see it given that you are set to unhide all files.
Please see my post #14 above, because it appears there is no guarantee as to how long the work-around will function until erroring out again.

Your suggestion seems to have worked. Thanks a bunch.

You're welcome. Mine had stopped, as I said in post 14 above, and I had to manually restart it a couple of times. It is currently running. The log file has a couple of errors that the knowledge base says can safely be ignored. However, the info in the KB article isn't exactly correct with respect to TIH 2013. The KB article is more for TIH2011.

NSB has stopped again. The log file indicates that an I/O error occurred (screen capture is attached). No knowledge base information is available. Windows event viewer does not indicate a system or application error.
Note that the NSB log file heading does not indicate that something is wrong. The error only shows up after the log entry is expanded. There is no indication other that NSB had stopped, except that I noticed the system tray icon is missing. I did see the NSB is stopped icon and message appear when NSB stopped, but then it disappeared from the system tray.
The only way for the user to know if something is wrong is by noticing the missing tray icon or reviewing each NSB log file's details.

Found one reason for NSB fail
I have found a very specific and verifiable cause that prevents (True Image Home 2014) non-stop backup working.
I modified my Internet Settings and observed an immediate effect on True Image Home 2014. Setting the maximum number of simultaneous http 1.0 and http 1.1 connections at a value greater than 6 caused NSB to stop as soon as the computer boots up. Reset the value for maximum simultaneous connections back to a maximum of 6 and NSB is back in action.
Discovered this when I used Iolo System Mechanic's NetBooster to optimise my internet speed. Settings were subsequently changed via NetTuner. Found by process of elimination booting up each time I changed a setting.
Win7 64. True Image Home 2014 build 5560
