Cannot remove or upgrade version 10: configuration data corrupted
Hi,
When I launch my Acronis True Image Home version 10, I systematically get a failure and the suggestion to send the error to Microsoft.
I, therefore, tried to reinstall the program but that failed because it was already installed. The installation program suggested to uninstall Acronis with Windows Settings > Control panel > Add/Remove programs.
However, that also failed as I got a message "The configuration data of this product is corrupt. Contact your support".
So, I'will probably be forced to remove it manually, but I have no idea how to do this properly (it probably involves deleting all corresponding keys in the registry, but which ones ?).
Any help would be appreciated.
Paul

Thank you for your reply and sorry for not having provided all full information. Here it is:
- OS: Win XP SP3
- Acronis True Image Home 2010
- the shortcut points to TrueImageLauncher.exe version 13.0.0.7154
- the main program is TrueImage.exe version 13.0.0.7154
Installation was almost 2 years ago, which means there has been a lot of updates of Windows since then. Also, I cloned the disk (with XXclone since Acronis would not work any more), but I do not think this the cause since it happened before I cloned ...
The real reason may be that the disk I was using started having errors and some part of the installation file(s) may have gone corrupted.
Si, I guess the only way out (apart from waving through the Registry) would be to reinstall the program so that it can be uninstalled properly, but how to do this if the installer says it is already installed ?

Hi everyone,
I found the solution.... In another thread "Uninstall issue with Acronis True Image 2012 and Win8", I saw a discussion about removal of versions 2011, 2012 and 2013... The link to the tool was http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876. The tool is "atih_cleanup_tool_s_e.exe".
The person who posted this link (James F) kindly suggested to me that the tool could also work with version 2010. And it did perfectly !
This is interesting because
a) I was looking for such a tool since several days and came accross this page and the tool but the instructions said it was specific, which is not entirely correct (incidentally, the tool not only removed "Acronis True Image Home 2010" but also "Acronis Drive Monitor" ...)
b) I came across another tool on the Acronis web site with name "abr_cleanup.zip", but it did not work.
So, I'm fine now and I hope this information will be useful for others.
Cheers !
