Consolidating incremental backups

Thread needs solution

I am consolidating a number (about 15) incremental backups. It appears to have completed, because there is only what appears to be the consolidated file in my backup directory. It has not been written to in over 2.5 hours, based upon its time and date.

However, TIH is still showing the consolidation progress window, with 19 hours 24 minutes remaining.

Windows resource monitor does not indicate any TIH process disk activity.

I don't want to cancel the consolidation process for risk losing my backup data.

A screen shot of TIH CPU info from Windows resource monitor is attached.

What to I do now?

Try to copy the resulting file to another directory. If the file can be copied, it is pretty safe to kill the process. Upon successful copy, validate the original file.

I have seem this same issue with 2013. After looking in the folder to see if the files have been consolidated, I exit the consolidation Window and close Acronis. I then open Acronis and the associated backup task appears to be correct with only one version.
This does not happen every time, but more often than not.

I put the computer into hibernation mode last night with the incremental backup progress window still open. Upon resuming this morning, the window was closed. The consolidation validated okay.

When I first started the consolidation, the estimated time pretty much reflected the actual time it took to complete. The estimate increased to the point of stopping at about 22+ hours.
