Bootup problem

Thread needs solution

My system
Dual boot. Win XP pro and Win 7 Pro on different hard drives (I have five in total in the machine)
Win 7 reported a problem with it's disk (standard sata) and began running erratically, so I purchased a new SSD disk to replace it and acquired acronis to clone it.
All went well and the new SSD started up fine but now I cannot load my old XP OS, somehow the comp has lost the boot up sequence and using my OS disks neither can repair it.
Can I get at the MBR and repair it manually any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Roger

The new SSD is brill, 7 starts up super fast and runs much more smoothly esp when using my Cad prog or surfing with lots of open windows and tabs, I just need to get XP working again cos 7 won't work with my old kit (scanner, printer etc) plus a lot of my old progs cannot be updated to 7 either.

Which boot manager used to start first, the Windows 7 one?

The XP partition is still definitely there is it not?

I think Windows 7 BCD has lost the path to the XP boot.ini file, I think the easiest way to resolve this would be to download and install EasyBCD, from here it will be easy to repoint the BCD to your XP partititon.

WOW thanks Colin Easy BCD worked a treat I now have dual boot options back it was so easy but then hey everything is easy IF you know the answer LOL once again thank you Colin for pointing me in the right direction.

Best regards Roger
