Windows 8 System Image (VHDX) not recognised
I have made a Windows 8 system image on another drive, as belt-and-braces to complement my True Image backups.
However when I try use the True Image windows application to 'Browse For Backup' to add this to the True Image backup list, there is no vhdx file type option. There is a vhd file type option that can be used to add Windows 7 images, but not one for Windows 8 images.
True Image 2013 is advertised as being updated for Windows 8, yet seems to have lost this functionality.
What gives? Is it possible to add Windows 8 system image backups to True Image 2013 ?

As long as your system can run the Windows 8 optionally installed Hyper-V platform, you can do as MVP Colin B suggested.
Not all older systems can run the Hyper-V platform on Windows.
See this Microsoft Library article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh857623.aspx
You can use a Power Shell command "Convert-VHD" to convert from VHDX to VHD and back. The limitation is that the VHD can only have a maximum size of 2TB.
The Power Shell command will only work if you have Hyper-V enabled in Windows 8.

Thanks James - I now have Hyper-V installed (quite a major operation!) and I'm exploring the virtual machine options :)
Your help was much appreciated.
