Probably a Dumb Question
I cloned my laptop HDD with True Image 2013 and it worked extremely well. 100% satisfied.
I now have my old HDD mounted in an external box and want to use it as an external HDD. I thought I knew how to do this. I created a new disk with a GUI format. But my laptop does not see the new USB drive. Should I have used the MBR format option?
I am using Windows 8 on a Lenovo laptop.
Thanks,
Dennis

If you have set up the drive as either a new GUI or new MBR style drive layout, you still need to create a partition (volume), and format the partition (volume). Until you create and format the partition (volume), Windows Explorer will not see the drive because these is no drive letter assigned to the partition (volume). You should be able to use Windows Disk Management to create the partition (volume) as well as to format it. Use NTFS as the file system type when doing the format, as MVP Tuttle has suggested, and be sure to give the partition (volume) a short descriptive name.
