Acronis 2013 recovery ISO & Grub2
Hi! I'm having some issues converting a very old Grub menu.lst to my current needs. Essentially, I'd like to boot the Acronis TIH 2013 recovery media ISO from Grub2. Ideally, I'm looking for the listing in format:
menuentry{
....
}
To put in my 40_custom file, or directly into my grub.cfg. I've tried many different iterations, including putting my own menuentry together from scratch, and errors range from not being able to find the file to not being able to determine the c/h/s if I try and use hd32 via chainloader. Please help!
Info:
Iso name: AcronisMedia.iso
Location: /boot/grub/iso
This is all housed on sda5, being the second partition on my first internal hard drive. Not sure why it's sda5 and not sda2, but that's up to the Linux God's whim, I suppose. Also of important note, that particular location is formatted fat32, rather than ext2/3/4 because of the needs of other software stored on that partition (other things Grub2 has to load require fat32 on that partition.) Not sure if that really matters, although it probably does.

Yeah, I've used YUMI and Xboot before for flash drive booting, and other frontends for setting up Grub4Dos/Legacy Grub. What I'd really prefer to use in this particular scenario though, is Grub2 on a physical, internal hard drive.

I have not tried this but here is a tutorial--if you have not seen it.

I have seen this particular guide. I've done quite a bit of google searching, and there are some excellent Grub2 guides out there. However, when discussing menu options, most limit themselves specifically to booting linux flavors when discussing live ISO booting. I don't want to boot to a linux or windows ISO, I specifically want to boot to Acronis' recovery ISO that it builds. Most of the guides I've come across do not cover such a specific scenario.

Just saw this brief topic in Xboot forums: Duplicate a bootable USB Drive to a Logical Partition http://reboot.pro/topic/17100-tools-duplicate-a-bootable-usb-drive-to-a…

I don't know anything about X-boot but if it's anything like grub4dos it should be very easy. I have the same setup on hard drive as I do for USB (UFD). With XP it's as simple as copying the grldr + menu.lst and adding an entry in boot.ini; with Windows 7 you need to set a path in bcd to grldr.mbr. Let me know if you want details.

If it is of any help these are my Acronis entries in menu.lst.
