Disk Clone asks for Restart

Thread needs solution

Attempting to clone my hard drive to a USB drive. Select the origin drive and then the destination drive. Looks good so far. Then Acronis says you must restart or the operation will cancel. I restart and that is it. I have to start again.

How do I clone a drive if this keeps happening?

As you are trying to clone the active system disk, Windows is getting in the way of the reboot into Linux. System drives or those containing the OS should be cloned via the recovery CD.

If you get the same problem using the reciovry CD, try swapping the drives around, put the external drive into your PC and the source drive into the USB caddy. Usually it is only laptops that require a 'reverse' clone.

If this still fails, more information about your system will be required.

Just interested to understand why you say that it is usally only laptops that require revese clone. Pls explain in detail. Thanks in advance.

acronisfan, as you have so many questions (that have been answered many times already in the forum) you would benefit from spending time browsing past forum threads and using the forum search. There's plenty of useful information already posted here that would help you better understand how ATI works.
