TIH 2010 - 2013 - Advice much appreciated!

Thread needs solution

Hello Everyone,

I would really appreciate anyone's thoughts particularly users who have used 2010 for a considerable period and then made the transition up to 2013.

I will try and keep this to the point as possible but will happily provide more information if necessary.

My understanding is that the 2010 version of True Image Home does not support: -

The full speed of USB 3.0. It will run at the USB 2.0 speed.

Hard Drives of 2.2TB or larger will not be correctly supported.

I am considering upgrading to the 2013 version purely to utilize the full speed of USB 3.0. The 2.2TB issue may be present at a later date.

However, I would like to know from users experience the quality of 2013.

My main use of the software is to snapshot everyday my system.

I have a 240GB SSD and a 1TB HDD.

The snapshot will be created on a dedicated backup drive within my desktop PC.

Should an issue occur, I will boot of the Acronis disk, and restore it to the time where the issue wasn't present.

My priority is the quality, reliability and performance of the backup and software.

Many thanks for reading this.

Take care,

Matthew :)

Matthew,

ATI 2013 is a pretty good release. Why don't you try it? Make a full backup of your system using 2010, then uninstall 2010, run the cleanup utility found here http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876

Follow all instructions very carefully. Do not let the utility reboot before you have completed all the checks.

Then reboot, install the trial. See how it goes.

Matthew,
2012 & 2013 are totally different than 2010 so you can expect a learning curve. Be absolutely certain to perform a full and complete backup of all partitions on your system before you move to 2013.

Hello to you both.

Thank you for your responses and the links you provided.

I decided to take advantage of the Christmas offer.

To cut a long story short, the machine I was purchasing the software for, didn't have Windows installed. I was trying to take advantage of a more recent offer that expired in a few days. So I wouldn't have had the time to do this, to make a sure answer.

As it turns out, the Christmas deal was a better one.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both. Hope to see you around the forums again. :)

In post #1, Pat L suggested to uninstall 2010, and run the cleanup utility found here http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876.
I may be misreading something there, but that article seems to say it applys to 2011, 2312, and 2013.
Is there a different cleanup utility for 2010?

There was a different utility for 2010 as it required the use of a utility from Microsft (Devcon) which is no longer available.

I don't think the current cleaner specifically works with 2010, but I haven't tried it out to confirm this.
