Backup History
Greetings
I have just recovered my system to an earlier time. There are six actual backups on my external drive. I activated 'Search for backups at start up', so the actual job in the main window now shows six backups, instead of the 5 which showed when I originally recovered the system. However, I only see 5 backups in the 'Recover Files' window. The last backup is missing. Can I get some help here?
Also, I have not activated Acronis Recovery Manager as I don't want to mess with my boot sector. However, I recovered my operating system from inside True Image. The system rebooted and the recovery began. I did not press F11. Is that by design? I thought I had to use the recovery environment to recover the system partition. If it is by design, it shows you that I have been living in a cave for awhile.
My second point only serves to reinforce my first issue. As an experiment, I just clicked recover on my system backup job. The window that just opened, does not show my most recent backup. If that cannot be altered, I will not be able to recover my system partition from within TI. I will have to use the recovery USB drive.
Is there a setting I am missing? Is there an action I can take to correct this?
Windows 8 64 bit
True Image Home 2013 build 5551
Thanks for the help.

Yes, all images are present on the hard drive. Here is what happened:
-reinstalled windows
-imported script files (scripts were correct, but no history). That makes sense. There was no history to be retrieved after reinstall of OS.
-started installing drivers, apps, etc
-created images after key installs
-one driver trashed my system
-I had turned off system restore in favour of True Image, so I recovered system using latest image (6th)
-job in application showed only 5 backups. Perhaps that is to be expected, given that when the last (6th) image was created, there were only 5 backups.
-turned on 'Search for backups at startup'
-job in application now showed 6 backups, but recovery window only showed 5
-just after reading your post, on a hunch, I clicked on the 'Browse for backups' tab
-the recovery window now shows the sixth backup
I am satisfied that the issue is resolved, but it is rather confusing. It would be helpful, if there was an explicit, obvious way (or set of instructions) to retrieve the backup jobs (ok, there is import script) and then retrieve the history; provided the actual backups associated with the script(s) still exist somewhere in the system. I don't consider myself too dense, but I had to turn on 'Search for backups at startup' which solved half the problem; and then click on the 'Browse for backup' tab, which solved the rest of the issue.
I realize and fully respect the fact that there are knowledge based articles, help files, and excellent people such as yourself on forums. However, retrieving backup information after a reinstall or recovery using an image is pretty basic stuff. The process ought to be obvious inside the application.
If there is something I've missed, your guidance will be appreciated. If not, I would be grateful if you would pass this post along to Acronis. Thanks again Colin.

Graham,
If you have the time, you might find the items inside my signature below of assistance--especially for those who are not familiar with the inner workings of TrueImage Home.
Check out the 3rd item in dark black below for into about restoration of backups.
It is not necessary to have the backups listed on your main display and they can be added at any time. Their presence or absence from the display has no effect on their true or actual presence and location. Using the browse option, the backups can be located at any time.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked and unchecked Search for backups at startup. Searching for backups updated the backup count in the application. However, it did not update the recover files window. I use that to comment on the backups I perform. As you know better than I, it is an excellent feature, given that windows 7/8 will not allow comments to be added to the file in explorer.
There is something wrong if I perform a backup and the recovery window does not update. The recovery window for my other backup jobs (other partitions) update. The only difference is, the system partition (not updating in recovery window) is on an SSD and the other partitions (updating as they should) are on a spinning disk. The software is not functioning as designed, unless there is something I am missing. Perhaps the software is designed so that the recovery window updates sometimes and/or on certain partitions. Please forgive the sarcasm. I don't think I should have to manually update the recovery window for a given partition. A picture is worth a thousand words. Perhaps this will help explain. The screenshots were taken within 1 minute of one another.
What do you think?

The picture are self-explanatory. It should show the update completion.
Curious about a few questions to gain some knowledge.
How much time had elapsed from when the backup was completed and time slice picture was taken with the backup not appearing?
Also, was the program started fresh or restarted after the completion?
If you look at the log file of the completion, does it provide any details about issues?
Thanks for your help.
