Empty folders named with hexadecimal numbers
ATIH12 is creating the desired full and incremental backups on my Win 7 PC. However, it appears to be also creating a large number of empty, zero-byte folders, often 2 or 3 per backup session. The folder names are relatively long hexadecimal numbers, not of uniform length, sort of like the CLSIDs that one sees throughout the Registry. They really clutter up the directory tree.
So: a) is ATIH12 doing this? b) If yes, what purpose do they serve? c)When and under what conditions will ATIH12 come back and remove them? d) If I manually delete them, do I impact ATIH's ability to recover files or images? e) is there some setting that will prevent the formation of these empty folders?

I have exactly the same issue as Ron. In my case, Acronis creates seven empty folder each day on my backup external HDD. Each of these folders is initially protected, meaning I have to right-click and continue to change the permissions before I can delete the folder. I have to do this for each individual folder one at a time!
My current backup schedule is once a week on Sunday. I am using the current version of Acronis Home 12.
A screen shot is attached.
Thanks,
Brian

Brian,
1. Please open your TrueImage Home program and in the upper right corner/help program, it will ire-dentify which version of True Image you are using. Please provide that information from the display screen. Perhaps you mean Acronis Home 12 to mean version 2012 but I do not want to guess. The last build for 2012 was build 7133. The current version is 2013, build 5551. You may have to depress the ALT key in order to obtain the help menu.
2. Windows 7 versions of True Image begins with 2010.
3. You might want to try an uninstall/reinstall which would be my first option.
a. uninstall your current version of TrueImage
b. run a TrueImage Cleanup program (link inside signature below for cleanup versions 2011-2012-2013).
c. re-install TrueImage if Win 7 compatible. Most current build for your version can be found on your registered Acronis account.
d. create all new tasks and point the new backup tasks to new empty target folders. My recommendation is not use the same folder for a mix of backups tasks. A different folder for each backup task.

1. My build of TI Home 2012 is 6154. Note, the program indicates a newer version is avaialable but when I tell TI to install the newer version, it does some checking, and then says that "the version you are trying to install is the latest". This message makes no sense as the newer version would of course be the latest??
2. I am running this under Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
3. If those don't fix the issue, I will try the uninstall/reinstall option.
Brian

Yes, the update message is very confusing. What it is attempting to imply is that the version you are planning on updating is the most recent and continue with the update so the new file will be downloaded. If you have plus pack installed, be sure it is updated also.

This has happeded to me for at least 5 years of Acronis yearly backup products. It is now 2016. Is there anyway to stop these empty directories from appearing. It's almost like Window (7 in my case) is creating them in response to Acronis activity.
