Corrupted backups

Thread needs solution

Ran full backup up of my laptop to a USB 250gb external drive before I re-imaged it. After re-imaging ran restores to get some personal data back....Worked fine.
Didn't use the backups for about 2 months but when I needed to restore 10 out of the 14 *.tib files were corrupted. I get the messages:

1)This is not the last created volume of the backup archive. Please insert the last created volume to start working with this archive.
2)The selected file is not an Acronis True Image Home archive.

Any way to fix these?

Hello Kenneth,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

There can be two reasons of the encountered issue.

1) Since you were able to restore the data previously, the issue can be related to the improper mounting of the USB hard drive. If you use an USB hub, try to connect the hard drive directly. Try another USB port, try the USB port in front of the computer. Copy the archives to internal hard drive and see if the issue remains. Try to get the access to the archive under Acronis Bootable Rescue Media. Acronis Bootable Rescue Media is a standalone version of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home, burned onto a CD and based on a Linux operating system.

You can find out on how to create Acronis Rescue Media in User guide for Acronis True Image 10.0 Home (chapter 10)

2) The issue can be related to the archive corruption. I mean that the program has created the valid archives, but they were corrupted later due to some reasons (a falling hard drive, a hard defragmentation, etc. can cause the archive corruption). In this case I would recommend you to copy the archives to internal hard drive and to validate the archive files. If the program detects the corruption, the only way out is to mount the archives or to explore them, this will help to retrieve the necessary data files (you can learn more on how to do it in the respective user guide in chapter 12).

I noticed you are not using the latest build (the latest  build of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home is #4942). You may want to update the build, I am not certain if the issue is addressed in the new build at this point, however it is generally a good idea to be up to date. You can learn more on how to download the latest build in this article

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.
