True Image Home and SSD Flash Drives?

Thread needs solution

I intend to purchase True Image 2013, which is supposed to work for a Windows 8 platform. However, as I just found out, there seems to be some incompatibility with ssd Flash drives: Boot media can create backup images, but these cannot be restored, removed or validated as usual. Is there a workaround for this problem?

The workaround is - if you have a system that uses Secure Boot and UEFI, you need to disable Secure Boot and change EUFI to Legacy mode, then the recovery CD will work. Once you have restored an image, you have to reverse the above.

Hi Colin,
thank you for the speedy reply. I followed your instructions, however, the problem still persists. My system boots from the cd as it did before, the backup and validation is apparently successfull, but I am unable to restore it from the created backup image because right-clicking on it as I did with my previous version will not give me any option, not restore, nor remove, nor validate, nothing at all. Is it possible that the boot media I am using was created with a trial version, so it cannot be used to restore? Or how can I run a restore from the created image file? I want to be sure that TrueImage 2013 really works for me before I purchase the software.

Speedy,

The recovery CD should allow you to restore. Click on the home button, recover disk and partition, browse to your backup

Speedy,
For more help on restoring your disk, click on link #3 in my signature below; and then select item #2 inside that link. That guide will illustrate how to use the Recovery CD to restore your system via a Disk option restore.

Anytime, you are restoring your system to an old or new drive, be sure the contents of your backup includes all the contents and partitions of the source master disk and that includes having any non-lettered partitions included in the backup.

If restoring only C partition, then a backup of C will suffice but it restoring a disk or replacing everything on the disk, be sure your backup includes all partitions or everything on the disk.

The CD is the prime restore device but the trial version on CD does only restores--not backups from the CD. You will need the purchased version in order to do backups when booted from the CD. Some user never install the software and do all their backups/recoveries from the CD.

Hi Pat L & GroverH,
thanks for the solution. My backup Image had been created with TrueImage 2009 Software. I was able to perform a restore now and it seems to be working for my new Flash ssd drive, too. Appreciate your assistance and Merry Christmas!

if restored via 2009 version, you should confirm that your SSD has the correct partition starting offset.

Use your system info to confirm as per this example.
