Unable to boot with cloned SSD

Thread needs solution

I posted previously about having difficulty cloning a laptop HDD to a new SSD in Windows 8. I was able to create a flash drive with True Image 2013 and boot into that and run the cloning program. The program appeared to clone the SSD correctly but when I try to boot from the SSD I get an error saying no operating system is found and have to boot using the original HDD. Any help would be appreciated.

With a laptop it is advisable to 'reverse clone' that is have the old drive in the external caddy and the new one in the laptop, clone from external to internal.

It is possible the only thing missing is the active flag, something you can check in Windows disk manager with the new drive connected in the caddy, if it is showing as active then i would try the reverse clone method next.

Both the HDD and the SSD are installed in the laptop as there is room for both, would the reverse cloning method still apply?

James,

Before you reboot, you should remove the HDD, put the SSD at its place and try to reboot then. If you compupter boots, then you can put the HDD into it if you want and reformat/clear/whatever you want to do with it.
If it doesn't boot, let us know.

Pat,

I did what you suggested and it seemed to have worked. Not going to reformat my old drive quite yet though to make sure everything truly did work and I do not get any errors. Thanks for the help.
