[RESOLVED] Can't clone - still get file corruption errors

Hi all,

I have the WD version of True Image, if I should take this to WD let me know and accept my apologies. I repeatedly get the error message: "Failed to prepare operations. Error code: 10 'File system error is found' with extended code: 458,780 'Run list corrupted'"

Here's what I have: Toshiba Satellite A215 laptop, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates. 500Gb Hitachi drive trying to clone to 750Gb WD drive.

I have run Check Disk several times both as command line and through drive properties under Windows. Have even checked for bad sectors. All good.

Have defraged HD. No errors.

Have tried TI both running through Windows and as a bootable CD.

Still get the same error. Any other suggestions?

Thank you for posting. I will answer your question.

The issue you are facing is described in this KB article: [[Operation with Acronis Product Fails with "Run list corrupted" or "MFT bitmap corrupted"]]. The solution would be to check the source disk for errors with chkdsk DISK: /r and if it does not help, to install the newest SnapAPI drivers.

Support for True Image WD Edition is indeed provided through WD support, so please refer to them if further analysis is needed. You should also refer to WD support to find out which SnapAPI drivers should be installed on your software version e.g. if there is an actual update.

Thanks for the reply. I had already followed all the suggestions recommended by Acronis Knowledge Base using both command line CHKDSK and using the chkdsk under Windows control. I forgot to add to my original post that I already installed the Snap API. Nothing seems to work. Will a run log be of help?

Thank you for your reply.

In this case the problem should be reported and analysed in a support case. You will have to submit the request to WD Support Team as we do not support this product. SnapAPI logs and additional disk checks with dedicated third party tools will then be needed. You will be advised by WD support team on how to collect both.

Try to run a file backup on the partition that you are trying to backup. I know this is not what you want to do, but if you do this, ATI will show you a list of file that it fails to backup. Some of these files might be corrupted for some reason. If these files are user files, try to move these files to confirm they are corrupted. If you can't move them, try to delete them.

If the file backup succeeds, try to do a new disk and partition backup of only that partition. If that works, we now know that the error might be in another partition, maybe a hidden partition.

I have had this issue with a couple of laptops with recovery partitions in the past. I was able to create the backup I needed (C:\ partition) by deleting a couple of corrupted files as described above. I couldn't use the recovery partition any longer (recovery was failing) and I couldn't back it up either (with same error).
