True Image Home 2013 scheduler problems windows 8

Thread needs solution

I am receiving a ton of these errors in event viewer in application logs.

Scheduler failed to run task with GUID 'E8EB23E7-2D44-49CD-BDBA-301B0BD1C9E3' because of error 2 (Failed to find the file (folder) or the key (value) in the registry

Can anyone help me find a solution to this problem.

This looks like a scheduler glitch.

You can use the command line utility program "Schedule Manager" to list and delete the spurious scheduled task. I find it best to use "Schedule Manager" to delete "all" the scheduled tasks and then reschedule each task in True Image.

Schedule Manager can be found here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/1859
See the section on "Managing scheduled tasks"

TO DELETE ALL TASKS

Download Acronis Scheduler Manager.
Open command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd); run schedmgr.exe and issue the following command:
task zap
This will erase all traces of ALL tasks.
Reboot the machine
Recreate the tasks

Thank you for the information. I will give it a try, however before I do that I would like to know what impact if any will that have on the current scheduled backup that does work. Will I need to recreate it all over again. Which I would like to avoid if possible as it has several backups as part of the chain of incremental backups with auto cleanup configured as well.

I have tried your suggestion and I am still getting the same error message repeatedly.

Craig,

The next option is to uninstall ATI 2013, reboot and reinstall. That should reinitialize everything. You will have to recreate your backups though, or you export the settings before uninstalling and your reimport then up reinstalling.

I have tried your suggestion and recreating the backups didn't work and it also left me with the dreaded problem that I had in windows 7 where Acronis couldn't read from disk because of the SnapApi snapshot driver. I tried downloading the newest version 1033 for ATIH 2013 and installed re-started and now the problem is persistently plaguing me with the error about can't read from disk number 2.

I should also mention that I am running a x64 Windows 8 RAID 0 and the backups are going to an external dual bay enclosure that is configured so that the operating system sees the drives as two independent drives of one another. The drive is a jbod/big drive.

Is your RAID 0 a hardware raid (set up in BIOS) or software?

Is ATI in Windows seeing your external disk correctly?

Does the ATI recovery CD see your RAID0 correctly (a single volume) and the external disk correctly?

It's a SATA RAID configured directly from my BIOS on Gigabyte motherboard. There is no hardware RAID on the system. However it managed to read the data for me to complete the first part of the backup but was unable to complete the incremental scheduled backup. And to be honest it was working up until I followed the instructions I got on here to go ahead and open a command prompt and clear all the settings. Now I'm stuck with a non-functioning program. I'm sorry to say that about James as it would probably would have been good advice in most situations but in my case it screwed up my program and system backups.

Craig,

When you say it is now non functioning, are you now getting more problems than your original 'disk #3 ' post?

Colin,

Every time I run the program now I continue to get the failed to read disk 2 error. This however does not happen if I go and do a fresh backup. If I try to run a backup schedule halfway through the backup it gives me the failed to read disk error.

You had a scheduler issue, I am pretty sure of this.

Now, you have a different issue, with your drivers.

Are you using Intel Rapid Storage technology? Is the driver up to date?
Are you using any caching mechanism?

At any rate, uninstall ATI, use the cleanup utility found here, reboot and reinstall.

Thanks Pat. I did a force uninstall using revo-unistaller pro and deleted all traces of the program from my system. I then re-installed the program this time without installing the SnapApi driver. I am now running a backup to my external hard drive. I will see how it works out during the next backup for the scheduled incremental backups and go from there.

There is something in Fast Boot that would appear to cause the problem. When I do a cold boot all the processes show automatic and running including scheduler in the task manager but scheduled backup does not work. If I do a warm boot after, the scheduled backup works and everything OK. Turning off fast boot is not an option as it slows down the computer tremendously. The problem is always there when I do a cold boot. My OS is Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.

Yes, you have to disable fast boot on Windows8 to have the Acronis scheduler work.

Then I believe that ATI 2013 is not Windows 8 compatible. Fast boot is an integral part of Windows 8 to work as it was intended. To turn fast boot off only serves to drastically reduce the speed and efficiency of Windows 8. This does not explain why the scheduler does work after a warm boot and not on the initial cold boot!

Nuccii,

Good point. I guess Acronis will eventually fix that. If you can't do without fastboot, then you can use the Windows task scheduler to schedule your backups.
