2012 online backup PC freeze

I have a problem with the online backup 2012 latest patch. If I start the online backup right after the "edit online backup settings" becomes available, it gets stuck at preparing,freezing the PC att intervals... eventually pops an error about disc read error (I have the disc cheked for errors and it is ok). If I then stop all services/processes that TIH started(takes a while to stop) and restart whate a while and try again it seems it runs ok. Do you really have roll your thumbs for a while before trying an online backup?
