Error when trying to clone drive

Thread needs solution

When I try to clone my 40GB SSD to a 160GB SSD, I get an error message with the text:

"Failed to activate Acronis Bootable Agent" and the error code (event code) 0x005F0025_0x005F002D_0x005F002D_0x012F0005.

The error message appears after Acronis asks me to reboot, and I click "yes" or "reboot" or something similar.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

It is best to perform the clone when booted from the user created TI Recovery CD. Is this a Windows 8 ?
You should consider the manual/manual move option in order to control partition sizes. The automatic mode provides no control over partition sizes.

Also, the general Acronis rule is to place the target disk inside the computer on the same connectors as old disk. The source can be placed elsewhere such as docking unit or external enclosure, etc.

After cloning, shutdown and disconnect the source disk and boot only with the one new clone disk attached--on first boot after clone.

Also recommended that you have a disk image backup before cloning to help mitigate some of the safety issues of cloning . Many of us prefer backup and restore for disk creation rather than use the clone feature.

See MVP Grover's response above.

Sorry for not providing enough information.

The computer in question runs Win7. I use the manual option, trying to create one large partition on the new SSD (larger than the one I'm trying to clone).

Both SSDs are connected to the same motherboard, although I don't know if they are connected to the same controller.

It doesn't really matter now anyway, I'll just re-install Win7 the good old fashion way.

Thank you for your help though!

Have you looked at the source disk from inside the Windows Disk Management graphical view?
Perhaps you have a non-lettered partition and possibly a recovery partition--both in addition to drive C.

Post a screen capture of the Windows Disk Management graphical view and maybe some of us can help.
