Automated Image or clone to 2nd hard drive

Thread needs solution

Anyway to set up a clone disk every few days.

We would like to have the 2nd drive ready to go in case we have problems with the main drive.

There is no way to automate cloning. You can automate a full disk image (disk and partition backup). IF your main drive goes south, you can restore the image on a spare drive.

Is there any way using Acronis Home 2012 + pack to set up two independent external USB hard drives for backup? I know about the Reserve Backup function, I am looking for something a bit different. For example I would like to have a complete backup made to external HD J: on Monday and on Wednesday have the same complete backup made to external HD K:

Is there any way to accomplish this?

Thanks

Ed

Edward,
Perhaps I am not understanding but one way might be to
Create 2 tasks. Task 1 stores backup on J and after completion, task 2 starts and creates a new but identical backup and stores backup upon K.

Or another option would be to use a program such as Karen's Replicator and simply copy the *.tib file from J to K. It would be much quicker. Replicator does a good job of copying and testing the copy and you could occasionally do a validation on the file in K. The copy function would be started by using a batch file in the Task Pre/post post command option.

There is no provision in TrueImage to backup to two places during the same backup.

I am also looking for this same solution to make monthly cloned backups of the primary disk to a mounted internal drive. Can it be added to the next program scheduled release.... please... been in need of this solution for years now.

Being that I can do this manually currently, it should be an easy add to incorporate the scheduler.

Along this line, I create clones from time to time. Recently a drive went wonky on me and I installed a clone, now I'd like to restore the files changed or added since the last clone from a recent backup. Is there a way to only retrieve (and place in the proper folders) data like this? Or do I need to restore the entire drive using the backup files?

Thanx in advance for your assistance.

If the backup you have is a disk and partition backup, you could mount the image and then use from file/folder comparison program to see where the differences are.

My backup files are labeled DRV2_VOL1 (C).tib and 2 and 3 so I'm guessing this isn't a disk image.

Just a general question, if I restore from a .tib file does it overwrite all the data on the disk or does it just overwrite changed or new files?

Thanx again for your help

The name of the backup doesn't tell you what type of backup it is. If you are not sure, it will give you an error when you try to mount it, telling you it is not the right type (it needs to be a disk and partition backup).

I just verified that, when you select restore files from a disk and partition, you can choose to edit the recovery options, and choose whether you want overwrite existing files or not, and options to do so (do not overwrite more recent files, certain file types).

Note that I am using 2013, but you should have similar options with older versions.

If you have a disk and partition backup, be careful NOT to recover an entire partition or disk as that will erase any corresponding data on the disk prior to the actual restore. Be sure to select "recover files".
