Need Step by Step Help
I have a pretty old Win XP computer that's been giving me bsod and other issues. I'm afraid I might loose it here pretty soon and all my data!
I have True Image Home 11.0 (build 8,101) that I've never really used because I don't really know what to do.
I 'think' I've managed to Backup my data on to a separate hard disc, but that's just my data, right? To backup all my programs, Etc, I want to do a clone?
Anyway, where can I get the help I need to backup everything? Hope someone has some good advice for me before I loose everything!

OK, I validated my backup, and then I found out to backup everything else I should do an Image instead of a Clone.
Acronis is asking me to please select an image file to mount to the tree. Do I select My Computer,
or Local Disc (C) or one of the entries below it?
really hope someone can help me :-)

The picture you have posted is asking you to browse the tree and locate and select the backup file you wish to mount. This will be a *.tib file located somewhere in your storage disk--probably NOT "my computer".. I also note that you have two disks both marked "storage". Having them both with the same name could lead to confusion and errors. I suggest you change the names to better identify what they really are. You have 11 characters to use for their description.
Once you have found and selected the backup file, then you will be provided with an option to choose what to mount--if your backup contains more than 1 partition.
click on the signature link 1 below and look at the items listed inside index item #3. There is help files there for making a backup and restoring for the old version 11.

Right on Grover, I'll try that out, I probably need to clean up my computer first though, having some issues with it, really appreciate your help with this!

As part of the maintenance, check the disk for disk errors.
From a command prompt
CHKDSK X: /R ( where x is the drive letter of the partition being checked.)

Sorry Grover I don't understand. You mean have acronis do a chkdsc? I already do that using properties in my C drive.

Acronis not involved with chkdsk.
From you description, it sounds like you are already checking the disk for errors;
or as you are having issues, if the check has not been done recently, I would encourage you to do a disk check for errors.

Hi, I have installed Acronis True Image Home 2011 Update 3 (build 6942). I am using windows 7 home edition. I have conducted my first backup to another drive which is 1TB. After 3 days the backup drive is now full. I am having trouble understanding what the incremental backup is doing. On the backup drive I have the following files:
I .tib file 0KB
1 .tmp file 0KB
1 .metadata file 2849KB; and
930m.data files each being approximately 1GB in size.
I can see why my backup drive is full but I don't know what to do.
What files do I remove to keep the backup drive with enough capacity to save more .data files?
Also, if I was to need the backup in case of a failed disk which files do I use for my backup?
I have looked for the program instruction manual but cannot find it. Maybe I would understand better if I was able to read that.
Any assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

What type of backup is this? Is it a NonStop Backup?

Hi Pat L, Thanks for your reply. You are correct, it is a non stop backup.

You have to use the clean up option of the NSB to delete older date backups and make some room. You are facing one of the limitations of NSB: there is no way to set up automatic cleanup/retention rules.

Thanks Pat L, so if I have to remove some files to make room for others do I choose a number of the older files to delete?
Again, I misunderstood the NSB, I thought I would have one large initial backup of my main drive then any changes to that initial backup would be saved at a scheduled time. This is clearly wrong on my side. If I were to need a recovery how would the Acronis bootable media know what my initial hard drive backup image was if there is no main backup to start with?
I do hope I am not frustrating you with weird questions but I am still having trouble understanding the whole process.
Thanks again in advance
