Partition Status Incorrect After Installing SDD Drive
I'm not sure where this needs to be posted but if someone can help me I would certainly appreciate it.
A few weeks ago I installed an SSD drive in my PC (Dell XPS 9100) which replaced the old HDD. I did NOT remove the HDD after installing the SSD.
Like all DELL PC's, the HDD contains two partitions, one hidden system partition and one for the (C) drive.
Instead of reinstalling Windows on the new SDD, following the directions on the Acronis site I created a backup of the HDD (on external drive) using Acronis True Image; when the SDD install was complete I restored it using the backup I had just created. I then deleted both partitions on the HDD, formatted it, and created a single Primary partition with drive letter (D).
According to Acronis Disk Director all partitions on the SDD and the HDD are marked as "Primary MBR". On the SDD, the hidden partition "Status" is "Healthy (Active, System); the C partition (Windows) status is "Healthy (Boot); the old HDD status is "Healthy".
I checked the status of the drives using a utility program from Intel Rapid Storage Technology (which was delivered with the PC). This program shows a number of things, however, this most important is the status of (all) drives.
According to the program, the SDD has a status of "Normal" and is (NOT) a "System Disk"; the HDD is also "Normal" but (IS) a "System Disk".
Obviously the status of both drives is wrong; the SDD should be marked as a "System Disk" and the HDD should not.
This is NOT creating a problem for me aside from the fact I know the BIOS is not seeing these drives correctly.
Now, does anyone know (if) and (how) to correct this WITHOUT formatting and reinstalling Windows?
