11.5 fails to backup c:/ on d:/

Thread needs solution

I thought 11.5 would be better so I started using AB&R when version #32308 appeared 2012-10-24. Starting a week ago, after the backup is supposedly Successful, I get final failed backups -- the SAME failures on two independent PCs, both HP dv8t running Win7 Ultimate x64. These PCs run Advanced Workstation with independent licenses and just do LOCAL backups of the C:/ drives onto the internal D:/ drive -- nothing fancy, nothing remote, etc.

http://kb.acronis.com/errorcode seems useless, as no information can be given about any of the codes or events below:

Anyone have a clue?

This may be connected with execution of pre/post- backup or -data capture commands. Did you specify them in the backup plan, do they work if you click 'test' button in backup plan options?

As it turns out, for over a month I had acronis use a second location on an external drive for backups, which was working fine. When I saw failures a week ago, I removed that 2nd location from my backups, and instead used a post rsync script I has always used with previous acronis AB&R (for some years) and which still works just fine when I test it. When I saw acronis still failing, I removed that option as well on both PCs. So, the failures you now see have NO second location and NO pre- or post-scripts.

If you unchecked 'execute before backup' checkbox in backup plan, pre-post script may be still trying to execute. If it is so, try to clear all corresponding fields and try again. If not, you can either create a new plan from scratch ( or export and import existing plan), or collect process monitor log for mms.exe process ( as described in http://kb.acronis.com/content/2295 ) to determine what command it fails to run.

I went through each check and Saved, and last night's run went OK. The second PC is still having problems, which now look different from the first PC. This PC also just started failing about a week ago:

Command 'Running backup plan 'BackupLouise'' has failed.

Acronis still fails on both PCs. I have just deleted all acronis files on the backup D drives (about 3 months which I now do not trust anyway), and will try the first backups on each. If this fails, I will assume that acronis itself got corrupted.

I do appreciate your attempts to help, but it might take some alien intervention to really help ...

Well, first-backups on both PCs with the existing backup plans, ran successfully. I have no idea why Acronis suddenly bombed every day on both PCS starting last week. I'd be surprised if this did not happen again. I should probably run "repair" on the current Acronis 11.5 software?
