How to restore a windows xp pro system to windows 7
Hi everybody.
I got a PC Intel I7 920 based, with 2 hard disk drives.
The first one comes with windows 7 professional with MS virtual PC and XP mode.
The other disk comes with the old OS (windows xp professional) and a lot of software installed, Acronis B&R 10 included.
I was planning to restore the XP system to windows 7 (as a virtual machine).
May anybody teach me how to do (step-by-step)?
Thanks in advance
Andre

Thank you Oleg,
please excuse me for the late reply.
When you say: "install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 onto the new hard drive", do you mean that a new license is needed?
In fact I should reinstall the same o.s. in the same PC as a virtual machine. Should it works, the old Windows xp (including Acronis license) will be removed.
Thanks for your patience.
Andre
P.S. windows 7 is 64 bit, Windows xp is 32 bit.

Dear Andre,
Thank you for your reply and for the question specified.
I would like to assure you that you do not need any additional license. Our keys are tied to the MAC-address of the machine, so there will be no issue with installing the product onto the different drive, since the NIC and other hardware is the same.
So there is nothing to worry about.
Should you have any additional questions - please kindly let us know, we will be glad to help you.
Thank you!
