how to open TIB file & invalid S/N

Thread needs solution

Good evening to all. I am a novice user and would be grateful if someone could assist me with the following issues. Many thanks in advance.

Issue 1:
My desktop PC has no access to the internet (network adaptor missing) and before I sent my PC for repair, I have been advised to back up all my data.

I bought Acronis True Image Home 2012 (did not see 2013 version on the shelf) upon recommendation by a sales rep at a large retail shop and backed up all my data on my C drive using the software.

My desktop PC is still under repair and I am now using my laptop PC trying to access video files that I have backed up on Acronis.

The location is -
Seagate Expansion Drive(F:): My backups: Windows_(C).tib

May I know how to open the above tib file

Issue 2:
I have successfully registered the product via the F drive regsitration.
However my account with Acronis shows: You have 0 registered products.
So I tried to register my product online but without success- serial number invalid.
The serial number I entered was the 8 characters found on my Acronis device (NA......)

The Acronis True Image Home 2012 serial number consists of 8 sets of 8 digits separated by dashes.
ie. XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX, and will be a combination of numbers and letters.

If you can locate this number, this is the number you should register with Acronis on line.
Once registered, you can download the latest 2012 build and install it on your laptop, but you would need to "move" the 2012 activation from your desktop to your laptop. There is information on the forums and in the knowledgebase on how to do this. You will not need the desktop available to "move" the activation to your laptop.

If you can not find this number, you can view it from within 2012 when you get your system back.

In the meantime, you could sign up for the trial version of 2013. Download and install the trial, and register the trial serial number.
You would be able to use it for 30 days, while waiting for your system to return.

Once you install either the 2012 version or the 2013 version. you should be able to double-click the .tib file to open it in Windows Explorer, and copy and needed files to your laptop.

Thank you very much for your kind response.
I have registered the product online successfully on my laptop but still having difficulty trying to activate it.
Error message was : The specified serial number is incorrect. Please retype it or install a trial version.

The serial number is the one provided.
I have also tried copying and pasting the serial number from my Acronis registered account but still without success.

I did not activate Acronis on my desktop PC previously because network adaptor is missing there.

You should contact Acronis support directly. http://forum.acronis.com/forum/18623

This is a user-to-user Forum, and we can not help with activation or invalid serial number issues here.

Installation and Activation are two different steps.
When you run the 2012 installation, you should be prompted for the long (Eight sets of Eight characters) serial number. If you enter the correct serial number, you should be able to install the product, and perform Activation after installation. This would still give you thirty days to use the product while troubleshooting the "activation" issue.

When installing the product, you can choose not to "activate" the product during installing by removing the check mark from the box on the lower left of the installation screen (if you choose the advanced options during install), that activates the product automatically.

From your post, it sound like the serial number you are entering is not correct (or possibly invalid). Be sure and double check that you are typing it in correctly (including the dashes, but no spaces) and it is the actual "serial" number, not a product number, or other type of number. It should be located on the disk sleeve or printed an insert included in the box. (Possibly on a "sticker")
Remember it should look like this:
XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX, and will be a combination of numbers and letters instead of the X's.

When replying here, do not post your serial number, as this is a public forum. (Just a reminder)

Joyce,
I am not sure from your posting and maybe you have tried this.

As this is a retail purchase, I would use a magnifying glass to determine the 64 character serial number.
It is very easy to misread the printout.
Write the serial number into notepad and save the file. Then copy the serial into your clipboard memory.

Do not try to type the serial. Use the paste method in everything you do regarding the serial number.
You can use the Control V to paste the information into the various windows.
Your email address is important and is used a lot for tracking your purchases by Acroris.
Be sure and use the same email address each time.
