[DUPLICATE] TIH 2013 & Outlook 2013

Thread needs solution

I have upgraded to ATH 2013 and the three daily backups (partition, files, email) I have scheduled have been working correctly. I upgraded from Office 2007 to Office 2013 and now my Email backup is no longer working. Nothing else has changed. I have deleted, re-created the task etc several times and the backup errors as soon as it starts regardless whether it is a full or incremental. Message is "The last backup has failed" - "Error occurred whilst opening the file". Any assistance appreciated.

Issue discussed here.

Is this a files and folders or email only backup or at a disk/partition level image?

Does it make any difference as to whether you have opened Outlook (including opening and then closing) or not when attempting the backup?

Thanks for your response. Email only is the one causing the problem. My other backups are working fine. I have tried with and without Outlook open.

Outlook 2013 has a new way to store profile data in the registry, so I am not surprised there are issues with Acronis.

Don't use email backup for Outlook 2013. Use a disk and partition backup that include the Outlook folder files. If you have to restore email, you will have to restore the PST file(s). On a new system/new user account, you will have to recreate your account settings and restore the PST file(s).

Thanks, Pat.

I've always used email backup until I upgraded to Office 2013. Am I able to nominate to restore only the PST from a disk & partition backup or do I have to restore the complete backup? In addition to my daily incremental disk & partition backup, I'm using copy and paste to ensure I have a separate copy of the PST file.

You can select specific files and folders to restore from a disk and partition backup. Don't need to restore the entire disk/partition.
