No sector by sector restore
After updating to TI2013 sector by sector restore is not possible. So restoring takes more time and disk optimization by Diskeeper is gone. I tried to enable it in the settings dialog but without success. When starting from CD it works like before. What's wrong?

Under normal circumstances, there is no need to use the sector-by-sector option to create backups. Sector-by-sector needlessly creates huge backup images for no added benefit. The only reason to use sector-by-sector is in situations when a normal backup isn't possible, such as a failing disk.

Sorry for my english. No I meant when restoring an image it should be done sector-by-sector not file-by-file. So restoring is much faster. Previous version did this. Sector-by-sector was not used when creating the image.

Porky,
Thanks for the clarification. Is this a disk/partition image or a files and folders backup that you have?

Restoration is not done sector-by-sector, unless that's how you made the backup.

It's an image of my system partition. When restoring previous version of TI always showed "restoring sector-bysector" which was very fast. But now it seems to write the files like xcopy, taking more time. And system files and metadata have new position at the harddisk. Before that happend only when changing partition size whilst restoring.

Hello Porky,
I have the same problem. When I restore a system partition with TI 2013, the next incremental backup will be as large as the full one. The only way to restore an image sector by sector is using the boot-cd. In the window while restoring it will show "restoring sector by sector". I've got no answer to this problem from the support-center. I hope for better times.

Yes, Taddeus, that's true. After restoring all files have new position on hdd making next incremental backup large. So also HyperBoot optimization done by Diskeeper is gone. Sector by sector will be ignored although I can choose it. Using boot-cd it's done without user interaction. Let's wait for next update...
