online storage usage

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I've backed up over 200 to 300 GB to online storage. However, the backup size and used size showing in vcenter console is still below 100 GB. How can I refresh these information?

Thanks,
Aldous

Hi Aldous,

The "backups size" should be equal to the "used space" value in case of Online Backup storage (unless you have more than 1 subscription bind to the same account). This space is the actual size of the backups after compression/deduplication so it is normal that it's less than the size of the data you back up. These sizes are refreshed every time you browse the location or perform a backup to online. Can you please clarify where you take the 200-300GB values from? How do you calculate them? This would let me understand what kind of inconsistency you are referring to.

Thank you.

Hi Vasily,

I only have one account.

When I looked at "Location" under the online storage (Home page), I have the following:
- Backups size 97.342 GB (10%)
- Used space: 97.342 GB (10%)
- Free space: 926.658 GB (90%)
- Total space: 1 TB

When I open Recovery Points under the Online storage location, I have 6 backup files and their "Total Number/size of recovery points" are:
- file: BTIDC01 (offsite) - 2 points/3.503 GB
- file: BTIDC02 (offsite) - 2 points/78.965 GB
- file: BTIGW01 (offsite) - 2 points/3.408 GB
- file: BTIMGR01 (offsite) - 5 points/12.156 GB
- file: BTIServer (offsite) - 2 points/39.378 GB
- file: BTITAM01 (offsite) - 2 points/199.748 GB

So, you see the total size of recovery points (all files) should be over 300 GB but it is showing only 97.243 GB in the home page under the location. I've rebooted the appliance and did additional backup but the size showing under the location is still 97.342 GB.

Thanks,
Aldous

Hi Aldous,

The Backups Size value is calculcated on Online Backup servers side, while vmProtect just shows the value which is retrieved from there and looks like there is some inconsistency here. This size is the one which used to calculate the limits of the subscription. I'd recommended to submit this issue to our support team (http://www.acronis.com/support/) so that we can figure out this inconsistency (I cannot reproduce it with my accounts here). May be it has to deal with the delay of the calculation performed on online servers side and later on you will see the real value.

Thank you.

Hi,

I may have found the reason but not able to fix... file corruptions. Today, I was trying to run incremental backups to the online. I got "write errors" on two of the backups. Then, I tried to delete all the recovery points of these two backups and failed. The backup files having problem are "BTIDC02 (Offsite)" and "BTIGW01 (Offsite)". Please find attached two log files.

Thanks,
Aldous

Hi Aldous,

The logs do not indicate archives corruption, but general write error which should be a re-tryable one. I've also checked the logs from online backup servers side, but there was nothing special there. I'd recommended to try incremental backup once again, but this time try increasing the number of reattempts in the task properties (edit task, go to 4th step -> More Options->Error Handling) and see how it goes. It could be a temporary issue. If this backup still fails then please contact our support team so that we can figure out what's going wrong.

Thank you.
