True Image Home 2013 Scheduled Back ups don't run in Windows 8

Thread needs solution

 Rob,

Thank you for the file.

According to the log file, the subscription has been expired. Have you tried to launch the console? A notification should appear.

Thank you.

I don't think that has anything to do with it? I don't use the online backups. I only make backups on my own system, is this case on my NAS server

 Rob,

It doesn't matter, whether you use the OB or not, this is our license policy.

Anyway, the new scheduler didn't cause the malfunction, the issue is in another plane :)

Thank you.

Could you please tell we what subscription you mean? I bought the 2013 version on October, 27 th and I'm not aware that there is another subscription? The only thing I know is the Acronis True Image Online subscription but I don't use that.

 Hello all,

If you experienced any difficulties in applying the patch on 32bit systems, please try another file, I have updated the attachment in this post

Rob, please see this article for more information.

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply concerning the activation. I read the article but I don't have the "activate" possibility in the Help-menu nor have I the "Activate now" on the bottom of the global notifications pane. I also checked the serial number, but is seems to be correct. So I really don't know what I can do more...

I re-entered the serial number of the upgrade and the serial of the previous version so I hope that the activation is correct now

I still get the message that my account needs to be activated. However it is activated. Very strange!

Don't experience the scheduled backup error anymore after switching off fast boot under Windows 8 Pro. I don't need fast boot. It's a new feature in W8 and therefore a bad solution for the masses, but I'm happy for now.

Unfortunately, the new patch doesn't solve the problem : planified backups are not scheduled after awakeneww. I disable the fast startup and comme back to old sheduling modules.

 Hello all,

Andr23a,

Could you please obtain Acronis system report from the Help section and send it to us? I am sending a PM to you with a link to FTP account.

Thank you.

Hi Oleg,
Do you want the system report with "fast startup" enabled and the patch, or not?
Regards

 Andr23a,

Thank you for your response.

The current state of the system is not important, I would like to see several log files.

Thank you.

Hello Oleg,

I installed the 32 bit system patch that you supplied on Feb. 5 (post 106) and I was able to start Acronis Scheduler2 service. Thus, the problem with restarting Acronis Scheduler Service that I reported on Feb. 4 (posts #90, #94, & #97) is fixed. Then, I recreated my backup task. The task ran when the computer was awake but not when it was asleep, i.e., the original problem remains but with a slight difference. After the computer woke up, a message appeared stating, "Scheduler service has stopped." The original versions of scheduler did not produce this message. After scheduler service was restarted the backup ran.

Regards,
Philip

 Hello all,

Thank you for your report.

Philip,

Could you please obtain Acronis system report from the Help section and send it to us? I ma sending a link to FTP account to you via PMs.

Probably, Acronis scheduler has crashed.

Andr23a,

The issue has been localized, we will create a fix as soon as possible.

Thank you.

 Hello all,

Please try another files that we have already compiled.

Hi Oleg,
Thanks for the path.
I'll try it today and tell you what happens
Andr23a

PS : i have changed my email address : now, use the new one.

Hello Andr23a,

Thank you for the update.

We are awaiting for the results.

Thank you.

Oleg,

1. Are files provided on Wed, 2013-02-20 16:14 updated versions for both 32 & 64 bits systems ?
2. Are the patch install instructions below correct for both 32 & 64 bits systems ?
3. Do I have to Enable or Disable FAST BOOT ? HYBRID SLEEP ?

Sorry if my questions have been already answered in prior posts or sound out of context , but for those like me who don't follow this thread on a daily basis / are not much aware of problem roots and only want their scheduled backup to run (as it should in the first place), an install summary seems necessary for each new file(s) update you post. At least until a dedicated article is available on the Acronis website (or better a software update).

** UPDATED** PATCH INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS :

- Go to Search -> Type services .msc -> right-click on Acronis Scheduler2 service -> Stop

-> [32 bits systems] Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2 -> rename the old schedhlp.exe and schedul2.exe files to, for example, schedhlp_1.exe and schedul2_1.exe
-> [64 bits systems] Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2 -> rename the old schedhlp.exe and schedul2.exe files to, for example, schedhlp_1.exe and schedul2_1.exe

- Download & unpack LATEST files attached in LATEST message from OLEG. They are for 32bit and 64bit systems accordingly.

- Place the new files to the same directory:
[For 32 bits] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2
[For 64 bits] C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2

- Restart Acronis Scheduler2 service (Go to Search -> Type services .msc -> make right-click on Acronis Scheduler2 service -> Start)

- Launch True Image and see if the issue remains.

 Hello all,

Thank you for taking time to contact us.

Rob,

This is a good symptom. We are awaiting for the further results.

Jerome,

The file 32bit.zip contains 2 files for 32bit systems, the file 64bit.zip contains the files that should be applied on 64bit systems. The files' location is different for 32 and 64 bit systems. On 32bit systems the path is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2 (on 64bit systems the path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2)

Fast boot should be enabled.

Thank you.

Thanks Oleg for your feedback.
FAST BOOT is currently turned off on my machine. Do I have to enabled before the patch install or after ? (or it doesn't matter ?).

The second test is also successful. The backup was scheduled for 9:30 am. I turned on my pc at 9:39 am and the backups started to run immediately.
The only issue I found is that the backup didn't start after the delay (in my case 15 minutes) but is started as soon as the pc was turned on.

New patch files applied : scheduled backups did not run while computer was in sleep mode.
Backups however ran when I resumed computer from sleep mode.

I have deleted my backups and created new ones from scratch. Waiting to see if TI2013 will automatically resume computer from sleep and run backups. Will keep you posted.

Hi Oleg,
i have applied the patch, recreated the backup jobs, enabled the fast startup, put the computer sleepy between the saves : no problems at this time (it is the 2nd day) : 6 backup jobs, each of them starting automatically from sleeping computer. i'll set a new post on monday.

After 3 days, no problems with my backup jobs with or witout awakeness.

A detail : with the reactivation of the "win8 fast startup", the problem of the numerical lock unlocked at startup has, of course, re-appeared (this is a Win8 Microsoft bug).

Many thanks for the patchs

I have tried the Acronis Scheduler files for 32-bit systems provided by Oleg on Feb. 22 but the results were the same as before, i.e., backups do not run as scheduled when my computer is asleep and Acronis Scheduler service stops. The backups do run when I log on and resume Acronis Scheduler service.

Several people have had success with the new Scheduler files. Were any of you using the 32-bit versions?

64-bit. But I have not tested with the laptop asleep. I will set up a test for early am tomorrow.

No problems since i installed the last patch in the 64bits versioon on a desktop witth Win8 Pro.

I scheduled my backup job for 5 am after configuring the laptop to sleep after 1 hour. The laptop did go to sleep. The backup occurred immediately when I brought it out of sleep mode at 7 am.

I have a 64-bit Windows 8 system, but in the Task Manager, it shows:
Acronis True Image Home (32-bit)
Acronis TIB Monitor (32-bit)
Acronis True Image Monitor (32-bit)

These don't say 32 or 64:
Acronis Scheduler 2
Acronis Scheduler Helper

I noticed, too, that there is no Acronis folder in C:\Users\ME\Program Files\Common Files

But there is an Acronis folder in C:\Users\ME\Program Files (x86)\Common Files

Do I use the 64 or 32-bit patch?

Why doesn't it say 64-bit?

Thanks, Art

Arthur,

You need the 64 bit patch for scheduler.

I automatically received the upgrade of ACRONS True Image 2013 Build 6514 version 16,0,0,6683 running under Windows 8.
After installed the upgrade i receive periodically the message enclosed saying that the scheduling is out of service.
I disinstalled and installed again Acroni but nothing is changed.
Many thanks
Vincenzo Fontana

Thanks, Colin. I guess that means that Acronis True Image is a 32-bit program, but the program differs a bit on 64-bit systems, at least in where files are stored.

I understand that your patch is not included into the upgrade I automaticcaly received two weeks ago. Am I right?
