[RESOLVED] 11.5 - There are no registered components

Thread needs solution

Basically purchased Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Platform and I installed it on a Windows 2008 R2 server and I can see the dashboard and everything, so everything seems to be working. Unfortunately, I am not able to install the Acronis agent onto other machines through the Acronis Management Console, so I figured I'd do it through the Web Interface.

This worked for me in the past, but this is a new install and I am getting:

- There are no registered components.
- To be able to use the Web page, install Components for Remote Installation on the machine where the management server is installed.

This appears when I load the Web Interface, but HOW EXACTLY do you "install components for Remote Installation"?

Plus, I did this install on another machine in the past and I did not have to do all this. I was just able to open the Web Page and download/install components, so why is it acting funny? I did install, uninstall (removing everything), and re-install but still nothing?

Help?

Never mind. It seems I have to figure things out myself, but in order to help OTHERS who might need it in case Acronis does not respond then just do the following:

1) It seems Acronis has a "bug" in that when you load the Web Page it does not show any instructions, so you have to click on the link that says:

- View the components for Linux

Here you will see instructions on what to do to get it working although on a previous install this was set up for me auto-magically so I am suspecting that if you do a re-install onto a machine that already had the Advanced Platform then this does not get set up again.

2) You will go mad searching for some button that says "Install Components for Remote Installation" but Acronis did NOT make it that easy. Instead you have to start up the Installation program and then select "Extract Installation Files" and within this interface you will extract to the location detailed in the Web Page which is:

'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\RemoteInstaller\32256\ '. <-- This last folder is based on the version you are running, but I am wondering what happens when you upgrade? Probably have to do this all over again.

3) When you open the settings.xml file you will notice some comments. Those are not comments, but rather the actual names of packages that are available for inclusion on the Web Page interface, so just remove the comment tags. Then open the Web Page and press CTRL-F5 and now you should see the packages listed for install, but of course you should have extracted the MSI files first.

So that is it and now my Web Interface is working.

P.S.

I had to use the Web Interface because I could not install using the Management Console, but it turns out that I have a firewall on some machines and if you run the install through the Web Interface then at least you get the PROMPT to open the firewall. In my case, it was Windows FirewallControl on a Windows 7 Workstation, so if you can turn off them firewalls unless you know which ports to open for the Acronis Console to get through... :)

Hello DonChino,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

You can use the remote installation feature instead of the Acronis Management Server Web Page. You can use the remote installation wizard for installing additional machines. For using the Acronis Management Server Web Page, please see this section of our user guide.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

Components for Remote Installation are installed by default with both the management sever and the console:
http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#3513.ht…
So, they must be present unless you have unchecked them during the installation. If this happened, here is how to get them:

Yeah, none of the suggestions posted here work and I uninstalled and reinstalled several times until I finally gave up and decided to just do it manually, because I installed with ALL OPTIONS selected so the Web Interface is NOT being installed properly. period.

Furthermore, I went ahead and upgraded my installation of 11.5 Advanced Platform from build 32256 to build build 32308 and that resolved a problem I detailed in post:

forum.acronis.com/forum/40393

which was nice, but guess what? All my MANUAL CHANGES made in this post were lost and I had to do the same manual fix again after the upgrade PLUS I initially installed to use port 9090 and then the upgrade changed it to port 8080. There was NEVER any option in the upgrade to change the port so it did it unilaterally which means this Web Interface is wonky and needs some serious updating.

Anyway, I will create another post to deal with the port issue but this post should help other users to know how to fix the Web Interface manually since the install does not do it correctly. EVER - from my experience across 5 machines so please fix this but we will see with the next upgrade if it happens again because then I will be submitting a Support Ticket.

>:(

Yes, it works fine now but not auto-magically...
