B&R11.5 Server - Trial - Bootable media fails with error code 41

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I have just downloaded and installed a trial version of B&R11.5 Server on a WinXPSP3 system and created a bootable media on a USB key. When I boot to the key on my Win2k8R2 server everything seems fine and the normal screens appear. I select the drive I want to back up and a second connected USB drive as the destination. The backup starts and at about 3% it fails with:
ProtectCommand: Failed to execute the commend.
Error code: 41
Module: 307
LineInfo: e6792a5ee190dda7
Fields: $module:agent_protection_addon_glxa64_pic_32308
Message:ProtectCommand: Failed to execute the command.
Error code:1
Module 408
LineInfo: 4782e32fa7da97b3
Fields: $module:disk_bundle_glxa64_pic_32308
Message: The feature is not available.

I noticed as I was setting up the job under the "What to back up" section a note stating : "There are no licenses for backing up some of the selected data types. Such data can be backup up to online storage only."

Can someone please explain??? I use the workstation version all the time and it works fine. Is this because it is a trial version or can I not backup to a connected USB device?
Thanks,
Rob

Bootable media created with a trial version doesn't allow to backup, but only to restore.

Trial Version?

I have been a faithful user and "referrer to others" of Acronis products for several years. I requested a trial version Like Mr. Bennett above of the B&R 11.5 Win Server and have been pulling my hair out over the last few weeks unsuccessfuly trying to back up and restore a Dell R720 Server with Windows 2008 R2 64 and a PERC H710 RAID controller. (3) 4-Tera byte drives RAID-5. I don't want to load it up until I know I can back up and restore the system partition. I added another 4T, a 3T and a 1T and connnot back up to one and reastore to another sucessfully. I tried the suggestions online to go from MBR to UEIF without much luck. I started over by changing the R720 to boot only UEIF and created a 100gig GPT partition. Then installed the trial and tried to back up to the Raid to the 1T GPT using a WINPE with the Raid drivers. Also tried from the 4T GPT solo to the 1T GPT. Nothing. Errors.

I am now getting an error 41 and 61 and I just noticed that Backup is DISABLE in the trial...

I'm experimenting on my own personal entertainment server at home. Is it possible to A. Get a Trial version that will actually allow me to TRY the product. If I can't confirm it works then it's not really a TRIAL version. And B. is there some kind of discount for personal use rather than Business use. $900 bucks for some backup software for non-business use seems overly excessive. Maybe there is another Acronis product you could suggest that would accompolish the basics. Just back up the C: drive. Just the windows boot drive. Don't care about the Movies and Music. They are all burned to BD-R.

Suggestions?

Since I couldn't Back-Up with bootable media (i.e. CD-DVD-Thumb Drive) because the "Feature is Disabled" in the TRIAL VERSION, I decided to try to back-up the Boot partition on my RAID to one of the other empty GPT drives. This seemed to go without incident. I think we have established that from within WINDOWS the TRIAL VERSION will back stuff up. However, when I tried to Restore to another drive, from within windows, with the thought of pulling out the RAID drives, re-starting and seeing if I could boot from the other newly restored drive, I received a message that stated I cannot restore using ACTIVE RESTORE to UEFI device. Translation "I can't back up from the large GPT RAID to another a large 3-4T GPT drive and expect to reboot and be on my way". So far, the "TRIAL VERSION" has been totally useless.

I'm sure I'm not alone, Can someone from Acronis help a customer out. I'll bet there are plenty of sys-admins in data centers who have shiney new Dell R720's stacked up and they are all about to abandon Acronis for something else that is not leaning on it's side off the Italian coast.

Help us out Acronis.

OK, How about one more try. Since I can't back-up from Bootable media but I can back-up my RAID from within windows and I can't restore from ACTIVE RESTORE on UEFI machines from within windows but I can restore from the bootable media. Maybe I can actually get something accompolished. Let's try booting from the WinPE (with RAID drivers) and see if I can restore the image to some other empty 3T drive, pull the RAID, re-start and BOOOOOOOOOT... hahahahah.... Remember the old days when everything was so simple... Just pull out your trusty Ghost disc and kick back with a coctail. Then things got a little more complicated and GHOST got replaced with Ti 9 or 10. Wonder how long it will be before Acronis get replaced.

Why do you think that you need ACTIVE RESTORE? What is it, anyway?

Hello Rob Bennett, Hello Rolf Jacobs,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

I want to thank dev-anon for supporting you.

For all limitations with trial versions from Acronis products, please see this article from our knowledge base. If you have any problems using our Linux based bootable media, you can create a winpe based media. See this article from our knowledge base for more information. Also we have a Bootability troubleshooting section in our user guide.

The feature Active Restore does not support GPT drives. See this article from our knowledge base and our user guide. So I recommend not to activate this feature for your recovery test.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
