Dell XPS 15 and TI 2012 Plus Pack boot media

Thread needs solution

When I try to boot the 2012 (with Plus Pack) boot media (build 7133), after choosing option 1 from the UEFI boot menu, the display becomes unreadable. I can use CTL-ALT-F2 to change to what I can tell is a black terminal, and CTL-ALT-F1 to change back to the screwed up GUI, but I can't use the software. I've seen it described to use F11 and provide some boot parameters to adjust the video driver, but F11 doesn't work on this boot cd (I downloaded the ISO from my account, I haven't installed 2012 on the laptop since it's Windows 8). Is there another method to make the driver change? This laptop has the built-in Intel graphics, as well as an nVidia 640M card.

Thanks!

If you have windows 8 on the laptop, you will need version 2013. Version 2012 does not support 8.

Thanks for taking the time to answer, GroverH, but using the boot disk and trying to make a disk image should make the OS that's actually installed irrelevant, shouldn't it?

Yes, it "should" but the the Linux CD kernal and Acronis program reacts differently based on the installed os. Also, if the OS is win 8, then this hardware introducres several new hardware features including the GPT disks. The 2012 CD was not programmed for Win8 hardware.

As you have the plus pack, consider making a WinPE or MustangPEBuilders which uses Windows Drivers. This could be a way around the video issue.

Acronis advertises free 30 days support from date of purchase. If you are within that time window, why not fill out a support request and get help from Acronis rather than other user volunteers.

Link to MustangPE Builder.
