i can not disable it as it runs a backup each night
have you removed the software to see if the issue goes away?

Well I had the "Operations have in progress.. problem for last two years, Acronis advised unchecking a box having something to do with validation and problem went away but when I upgraded to 2013, guess what--problem came back. Is there not a way to resolve this issue? Even a note that says something like "Don't shut down, ATI is running a validation" would help.

You have to be kidding me. There has to be a way to not have TI get in the way every time I reboot.
This is a show stopper. I checked to see that the backups were not running and yet I still get this message. I have never seen the "Operations in Progress" message until I installed TI.
What process to I have to kill to be able to reboot.

Steven,
This is not a sure fix, but worth trying:
- disable validation after backup,
- clear any box in the advanced settings of the scheduler (do not wait for computer to be idle, do not run missed backups at startup, etc.)
- avoid using a backup trigger on event like logoff or shutdown

Hi,
Go to "Backup and Recovery" tab, "disk backup options" (at bottom left) select "Validation" uncheck both boxes. See the attached image if you have trouble finding validation settings. Mine are unchecked but I still have issues with PC hanging up on "Opertions are in progress..."

Hi
I also have the same issue - Windows7 - when I went to shut down last night got the message "operations are in progress..." so I thought it was a Microsoft update, left it over night, checked in the morning and it was still there. Googled the message and found this - hit the power button and win7 loaded up as normal thank god.
I must say I am quite disappointed to find this issue is related to ATI 2013 - which I have just bought for my office PCs. You only find out the issues after paying eh!
Well, what to do now - if I disable the validation option, I guess it may fix the bug, but then hey, no validation??
Looking at the forums it seems this issue has been affecting the ATI software for some time.
Surely the support team are aware of this bug? Has any work been undertaken to fix it?
Is there any official word from the Acronis staff?
How do I log a bug report?
Thanks
Sol
