Full Backup Restore to Larger SSD
I just had a 128GB SSD fail. Unfortunately, it is my main OS(c:) drive. Fortunately, I had made a Full Disk Backup (not a clone) and a bootable TI Rescue Disk a couple of months ago. The Full Backup is saved on an internal HDD used soley for this purpose. My question is exactly what I need to do recover that backup to a larger new 256BG SSD?
I think I know how to use the TI Rescue Disk to bootup my computer, but I am somewhat confused by Hargrove's procedure for recovering to a larger or smaller SSD and whether or not it applies to my situation. Do I really need to cycle through the partition process 4 times? My destination SSD is brand new and has not been formatted. My old smaller SSD, I think, contains only the 1 active partition, because I recently reformatted it that way when I had to reinstall Windows 7 OS. But I'm not technically savy enough to know what other hidden partitions may also be on it at the time. And since I cannot view the SSD with the Windows Disk Management, it would be purely a guess what they are much less their size. How should I proceed with my disk recovery?
Any advice or steps to follow would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Pat L wrote:Hopefully you have included all partitions in your "full" disk backup. Many users think that including "c:\" get you there and it is often NOT the case. The only way to make sure that the entire disk is included is to switch to disk mode when you set up the backup, and select the box for the disk.
Assuming you have all partitions included, since it seems you have only the C:\ partition as a user available partition on that SSD, put the new disk at the same spot as the old one in the computer, boot on the recovery CD and restore your entire disk to the new disk. Reboot with only the newly restored disk in the computer.
Yes, thankfully, I believe I did choose Disk Mode and "include all partitions". Thank you, Pat for your help. I will proceed as you have suggested.
