Acronis 11.5 metal to metal restore not working
Trying to do a Universal restore from a Win server 2K3 SBS to another Win 2K3 server. Both servers are Dell PowerEdge 1800s. I am using an Acronis bootable CD and the backup image is on an external hard drive. The backup image is a Volume C: on the first computer. After the restore the second computer will not boot. I get the error: "ISASS.exe System error - security accounts manager initialization failed because of the following error: The value provided was a invalid value for an identifier authority. Error Status: 0x000084. Please click OK to shutdown this system and reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode, Check the event log for more detailed information."
I suspect I am doing something wrong with the drivers. Can someone show me steps on telling the restore utility how to find the proper drivers for the second computer? I'm missing something here.

Does it finally boot after DSRM and boot in safe mode?
Doesn't look like a driver issue, but either some problem with created image or with UR somehow interfering with something in this SBS install. I'd try to take another backup (of a 'cold' computer, taken from a bootable media) and a restore without using Universal Restore.

I got this to work. I took your advice, dev-anon, and I did another backup of the SBS 2003 when it was "cold". I did a shut down and booted back up. I disconnected all ethernet cables to make sure nothing interferred. I then performed the Universal Restore on the other computer and it worked. I had to do the restore twice because I must have selected some option wrong the first time. But, the second time it came up. I had 2 warnings and 1 error which I will have to work through but the new system came up.
thanks for the help.
