"The last backup has failed."

Thread needs solution

I am running Windows 7/32 with True Image 2013 Build 6514. Sync agent version 16,0,0,6682.

"The last backup has failed." View log shows Error occurred while reading file. Event code is 0x00040001+0x0017001B

Backups for the last few days have had this problem. Problem seems to come and go.

Also, how can I set the program to notify me of problems without my having to manually check each day?

Thank you,
Robert

Yes, click on signature line #2 below and look at illustration figure #13 which is part of Disk Backup Options.

You might want to check the disk being backed up for disk errors.

http://forum.acronis.com/system/files/resize/mvp/user285/misc2/command-…

When I run check disk on C or D (I backup both drives), it tells me that the type of file system is NTFS and it cannot run b/c the volume is in use by another process.

Any thoughts on this?

Incidentally, my C drive is an SSD.

Checkdisk, on the OS drive at least, should not run until you reboot, as it cannot use the /f or /r switch on a running system. On reboot it will run before the Windows GUI starts.

Are you running chkdsk from an elevated command prompt or by right clicking on the disk properties in Windows and selecting 'error checking' from the tools tab?

Okay, ran check disk /r on initial boot at the DOS prompt and backup is now running. It will, however, take 8 hours to complete. I cannot imagine that much has chanced on my computer in the past week.

Eight hours does seem a bit excessive, but to put it into context, how big is the disk being imaged (in used space), what compression ratio is being used, where is this being imaged to and how is this drive connected and what type of files are predominant on this disk - videos, music, pictures, ISOs etc?
