Build 6514 Extremely Slow

Thread needs solution

After updating True Image 2013 to Build #6514 I find that a full backup is now excruciatingly slow. A 900GB backup from/to separate internal drives now takes about 24 hours. It used to take about a quarter of the time with build #5551.

I tried reverting back to the previous build by downloading and installing Build #5551 but (not surprisingly) I could not go back. What is the best way to go back ... uninstall and reinstall? If I do that, will I lose my existing backup info?

Also, before I try to revert, I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem. If this is already a known problem is there a timeline for a fix?

Thanks!

Are you using the identical setup that you used when backing up with build #5551? e.g.: same drive; same port; same cable; etc?

Perhpas the disk filter or snapapi has not updated correctly, try running a repair install of 2013.

Just to answer your question Jeffrey Shifman, IT IS AWFUL, I made the same mistake of updating my 5551 build to 6514, and now it's almost unusable. If it takes over 2 hours to backup 28GB of data from a 120GB SSD, then I'm taking on Morse code and copying it with that....
I'm used to 15 minutes, that I understand, can't live with 2-3 hours.
Was looking for solutions myself.

LAZ.

Laszlo,

Have you tried running a repair install? It sounds as though parts of TI didn't update correctly.

Hi Colin B,

I did not try to do a repair yet, left that machine alone, and used another one to do my drive backups and recoveries. This machine is even faster than my usual. Does the backup in 3-4 minutes and rewrites another drive in about 14-15, that has still build 5551.

I will attempt a repair when I have a minute, needed to proceed with these drives.
I'm wondering if my 2-3 hour backup is even usable now, worth an experiment......

I appreciate the suggestion, get back here with some result later.....

I'm seeing the same slowness in Build #6514. I recently upgraded from TI 2010 so I don't have any experience with previous 2013 builds.

I did a full uninstall and reinstall with no change in performance. I have the Home edition running under W8 32 bit. There was no option to do a repair install, just uninstall/reboot/reinstall.

I was shocked at how slow it was backing up the same image on the same hardware. I hope there's a fix for this soon.

Edit: I noticed under the Performance options, the default Priority was set to Low. I set it to Normal to see if that makes a difference the next time.
