restore in a new partition possible?
Hi,
is it possible to restore partition-backup in a different partition than the image was made from? (but on the same computer of course)

There is a choice of where to recover to in the recovery wizard.

Thanks Colin,
yes there is an OS but I don't know how to change the bcd? I've got easy bcd. Can I do it with it?
Sorry your post comes always twice and now three times....maybe four times...
I forgot to say that I have got a multiboot system (W7,W8,XP)

Guenter,
Could you give more information on what partition you wish to move?
Depending on which partition your are moving and which boot manager is your main one the W7/W8 or even XP one depends on what might need to be done.
EasyBCD only works in Windows, so if you are able to boot into the OS that has EasyBCD installed then yes you can make any alterations you need there, the other way is via Microsoft command line accessing BCDEDIT (the program that EasyBCD actually hooks into from Microsoft) directly.

ok I will try to answer your questioms:
The partition which I want to move ist 'Q' an the OS on this partition is XP
My main OP is W7
My Bootmanager is easyBCD. It is on each OS installed.
I want to do this, because I need the letter 'Q'. Therefore I want to format partition 'Q' , then rename it an finally restore XP on the renamed partition (from size it is equal than before).
I hope, now you have all you need.
greetings
Günter

Guenter,
Sorry I thought I had replied, but obviously not.
When you boot each OS what drive letter does each booted OS take?
As an example, if you have booted your Windows 7 OS, does this then show itself as running as 'C:' and all the other OSs have a different drive letter, but if you boot into W8 does it then show itself as 'C:', and the Win 7 OS now show as a different drive letter?
I'm just unsure if you really need to delete and restore a partition just to change a drive letter.

Hi Colin, thanks for your reply.
Indeed all Drive letters stay at C: only the WinXP is on Q! (I dont know why). But since Sunday I've got problems with the internet (but not from the provider, it is a problem on my computer and in the moment I am trying to resolve it. Three of my 4 OS work properly only the Win7 -32 bit not.
But another problem ocurred with the Xp (which I restored some days ago) Yesterday it didn't start. It seemed it was in the status before, when I tried to change the drive letter with the registry. Die boot-process stopped at "Windows XP is starting, but short before the screen where I can put in my password arrives.
So I restored again with Acronis and now It works properly.
You see there are al lot of problems with my computer.
