True Image Compatability with Windows 8

Thread needs solution

I am having serious problems trying to use True Image 13 with Windows 8. this may well be because I have not been successful in running the Hotfix patch and significant disruption of my (new) PC has been caused by using a start up disc without it. Please see Query 41608 for more details, but I begin to fear there is a basic incompatibility with Windows 8 and just hope someone can please assure me that I am wrong.

The Hotfix patch you have mentioned in your other post is for the 2013 build 5551 only. The 2013 build 6514 does not need it.

Can you explain what you mean by "significant disruption of my (new) PC"?

Does that mean the Windows 8 compatibility for my TI 13 build has been solved and that the start up disc should function properly?
If so, I will reload everything and create a new start disc and see if it works this time. Possibly he disruptions I referred to were from other causes, but I have had very many problems (including disc problems) learning Windows 8 and reinstalling everything on a new PC.

John,

You can download a 2013 True Image bootable Rescue Media ISO from your Acronis account. Burn the ISO to a disk and you will have the current version of the Rescue Media. You do not have to install 2013 and create the disk, you can make one from the ISO file.

Try and boot it up in your system to see how well it works, and whether or not it recognizes your disk drives properly.

James,

That is BRILLIANT! I have spent many miserable weeks fighting Acronis (trying to create a usable start up disc), as well as my faulty PC which has had all sorts of problems and had to be replaced twice. But the method you recommended has created a disc that works and I am truly grateful.

I do have another query which you perhaps can answer. When using this disc, it appears to me that the only option I have is to restore an entire disc image, whereas at present I just want to recover data. More specifically, I want to recover data from an earlier backup created by TI 13 on an earlier PC also working on Windows 8.

I know I can't recover s/w that way, but I hope that data will be retrievable. Perhaps I shouldn't use the start up disc at all, but recover from during normal PC operation.

Thanks again. I am greatly relieved,
John

You can recover files/folder from the bootable Rescue Media.

On the main screen, select "recover - files/folders" and then BROWSE to your backup image file. Once selected, you may have to right click on the backup image file for more options (validate, restore, etc.). (This is not intuitive!)

Individual files/folders can be restored from full disk/partition images.
