installing ATIH2009 on new PC Windows7

Thread needs solution

installing ATIH2009 on new PC Windows7, after using it for years on my XP laptop. Installed from a build 9796 file. Did not finish install, PC restarted by itself. Acronis shortcut did not run. Tried install again from original CDs. Also did not finish install. IS ATIH2009 not compatible with Windows 7? I tried uninstall several times , did not work. How do I get rid of it all?

I tried to restore to a system restore point from before all the install attempts. The system Restore did not work , gave 'unspecified error 0x80070005', even after I'd got rid of antivirus progs etc. Forums seem to say this error can be due to damaged windows system file(s). Is that ATIH2009? How can I correct any error ATIH2009 has introduced? as well as uninstalling it?

I believe ATI 2009 didn't officially support Windows 7.

It would have been prudent to use the bootable Rescue Media to make a full disk backup image of the new PC prior to installing ATI 2009. That way you could have "reverted" by restoring the backup image, in the event that the installation didn't go well. You'll know for next time.

Uninstaller probably doesn't work because the application never fully installed. You might try installing again, but this time do so in Safe Mode and disable all non-Microsoft services before installing. If installation works, then uninstall.
You should also search forums for the relevant Acronis True Image Cleanup Utility to run after uninstallation. The current Cleanup Utility is for 2011-2013, so you'd want an earlier version.
