computer hangs during backup - no boot

I am running Acronis 2013 6514 on Windows 7 Sp1. During Backup computer ends up at black screen with cursor flashing. When restarting PC it does not boot up. I am able to get into Windows manually from BIOS boot up only. I had the startup recovery manager installed. I have selected to remove it but F11 option still shows on boot and fails.

I had been running scheduled backups on previous versions.

Please help to get Windows booting normally.

I was able to get boot up working with Windows recovery disk but would still like to know why system would hang at blank screen during a backup process, which had worked on other versions.
