Clone a RAID1 array

Thread needs solution

I'm running Acronis TI 2013. My system consist of:

Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe motherboard, SSD containing Windows 8 Pro x64 installed under UEFI mode, formatted as NTFS with GPT partition style.

Data stored in a RAID1 array, consisting of two 320GB Western Digital disks, formatted as NTFS with MBR partition style. RAID array created with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology system.

Problem:
In tried to clone the RAID1 array to a single WD 320GB disk in MBR style. The clone fails to complete with error messages reading as follows in the log file:

Failed to prepare operations. Error code: 10 'File system error is found'
with extended code: 458,776 'MFT bitmap corrupted'
Event code: 0x000A0001+0x00070018
0x9F2C53C72E8BCD1F

I have run a check disk on all partitions of the RAID array. Windows CKKDSK reports no problems.

What can be the cause of the failure and how does one clone a RAID1 array?

Many thanks for any help with this problem.

When you say you tried to clone, what did you do? Did you use the clone feature of ATI, of a disk and partition backup?

Boot the computer on the Acronis recovery CD. Make sure ATI running from the CD sees your RAID1 as a single volume, and see your target disk correctly.. If yes, then clone the RAID to the target disk.

Use drive labels, not drive letters to make sure you select the right disks!

If not, let us know.

Thanks Pat L. I will try your method later. In the meantime I have successfully "cloned" my RAID1 array to a single disk by using backup and restore. Bit more long-winded than native cloning but it works well.

Well, I always a prefer a backup and restore to a clone myself. So you did the right thing!
